Official Statement from the DWCL PICE-ACES
The DWCL PICE-ACES wishes to formally address a recent incident during the Question and Answer portion of Mr. and Ms. SEAIT 2025 involving our representative, Ashley Nicole Igno. During this portion, an error occurred that was completely beyond Ashleyโs control, yet it negatively affected her standing in the competition. These actions caused unnecessary stress not only to Ashley but also to our organization, and demonstrated a clear disregard for the respect, professionalism, and consideration that every student organization deserves.
The impact of these actions was significant. Ashley was placed in a situation that could have been entirely avoided had proper protocols and communication been observed. Beyond the immediate stress caused to our representative, the incident sent a troubling message that the CE student organizationโs voice, role, and welfare were undervalued โ a message that is unacceptable and must be formally recognized. While discussions occurred afterward, the gravity of these missteps cannot be overstated. The disregard for fairness and accountability intensified the harm and frustration experienced by our organization.
We acknowledge the apology extended by the SEAIT Committee and appreciate their effort to address the matter. However, the apology alone does not erase the unnecessary complications and distress caused. The DWCL PICE-ACES stresses that accountability is not optional; actions that disregard the well-being of others are unacceptable and carry consequences, whether acknowledged publicly or privately.
That said, our organization has decided to move forward. We will continue to focus on fostering a respectful, professional, and supportive environment for all members of our community, while remaining vigilant to prevent similar incidents in the future. Furthermore, we express our willingness to support the SEAIT organization in their future endeavors, trusting that proper protocols and fairness will be observed moving forward. Let this statement serve as a clear reminder: the CE student organization will not tolerate negligence, disrespect, or disregard for our membersโ rights and welfare.
We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of fellow students and faculty as we continue to uphold the values of integrity, accountability, and fairness in all our engagements.
