COME Leads Mangrove Planting Initiative

In a strong demonstration of environmental stewardship, the College of Maritime Education (COME), through Ms. Angie Caraang, Community Extension Coordinator, together with the Corps of Cadets led by Corps Commander Ashlei Dacuycuy, spearheaded a Mangrove Planting Activity on October 26, 2025, at Davila, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

This initiative forms part of the collegeโ€™s continuing efforts to protect coastal ecosystems and mitigate the effects of climate change.By planting mangroves, the team contributes to the restoration of natural habitats, prevention of soil erosion, and enhancement of marine biodiversity.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 13: Climate Action) and SDG 14: Life Below Water, the activity underscores the College of Maritime Educationโ€™s commitment to sustainability, environmental awareness, and community involvement.

Through projects like this, COME continues to shape future maritime professionals who are not only globally competent but also socially and environmentally responsible citizens.
