𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐤𝐚𝐝𝐚: 𝑨 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒄𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆

Ten years ago, IDRRMU began with one mission and one purpose: 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆. From its humble beginnings to the years of challenges, learning, camaraderie, and countless moments of service, every chapter has helped shape the IDRRMU we know today.

And now, a BIG milestone is on the horizon.

As we look forward to our 10th Anniversary celebration next year, we begin the journey of looking back, honoring the people who have been part of our story, and celebrating a decade of service, resilience, and commitment.

THE COUNTDOWN TO 10 BEGINS!

10 years of memories.
10 years of service.
10 years of making a difference.
And 10 years of a legacy worth celebrating.

IDRRMU family, alumni, partners, and friends—get ready!

The celebration may be next year, but the countdown starts NOW.🔥

STAY TUNED. THE ROAD TO 10 STARTS HERE!

𝑾𝒂𝒗𝒆 11: 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬

From September 26–27, the IDRRMU conducted a two-day training on Water Survival and Rescue Techniques, led by the IDRRMU Core Training Team.

The training began with physical activities designed to prepare and energize the trainees for the challenges ahead. This was followed by discussions and demonstrations on essential water survival and rescue techniques—skills that can make a difference during water-related emergencies.

But learning did not stop with theory. The trainees put their knowledge into practice through hands-on activities, from basic swimming and water survival techniques to various rescue approaches. Each exercise provided an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen skills, and better understand the importance of preparedness in responding to emergencies.

With every skill learned and every challenge overcome, we become more prepared to respond when it matters most. Let us continue to learn, practice, and sharpen our skills as we remain ready to serve whenever we are needed.

Prepared to Respond. Ready to Serve.

𝑫𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝑫𝒆𝒌𝒂𝒅𝒂: 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞, 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞!

On September 25, the IDRRMU had its last pickleball game of the month as part of the activities leading up to our 10th Anniversary.

The three teams continued to battle it out on the court, bringing friendly competition, teamwork, and plenty of fun into the game. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗢𝗯𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 showed their skills and came out on top, winning with a clean straight-two-pair victory.

This time, our Wave 11 trainees also got the chance to join the game and step onto the court for the first time. It was a great opportunity for them to meet and get to know other members of the unit, build new connections, and enjoy some time together outside of training.

From exciting rallies and friendly competition to laughs and cheers on the sidelines, the game was a reminder that IDRRMU is not only about training and service, it’s also about camaraderie, teamwork, and making memories together.

Another game, another memory, and another milestone as we get closer to celebrating 10 years of service, friendship, and commitment.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐃𝐚𝐲! 💐

Behind every lesson is a teacher who chooses to guide, encourage, and believe in their students. Today, we honor those who make learning more meaningful and remind us that every challenge presents an opportunity to grow.

Thank you for your patience, kindness, and willingness to share not only your knowledge but also the values that shape who we are today. You teach us lessons that we will remember long after we leave the classroom.

From the IAU Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, we celebrate and appreciate all the educators who continue to inspire us to learn, grow, and face what lies ahead with courage and resilience.

𝑺𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒕, 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑭𝒖𝒍𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅

On September 19, 2026, the Wave 11 trainees underwent Basic Life Support (BLS) and Basic First Aid (BFA) Training facilitated by the IDRRMU Core Training Team.

The trainees actively engaged in discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, giving them the opportunity to practice essential life-saving skills and techniques.

The following day, September 20, the trainees took their Theoretical and Practical Examinations, putting their knowledge, skills, and readiness to the test. It was a challenging yet meaningful experience as they applied what they had learned and gave their best throughout the training.

More than completing a training requirement, this experience is a step toward becoming more capable, confident, and prepared to respond when emergencies arise.

Because being ready is more than knowing what to do—it is being prepared to act when it matters most.

𝑨𝑵𝑫𝑨𝑴 𝑳𝑨𝑷𝑼-𝑳𝑨𝑷𝑼: 𝐀 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘

On September 15, 2026, Indiana Aerospace University (IAU) welcomed students from different schools for a campus tour filled with new experiences, discoveries, and opportunities to learn.

The visit gave the students a chance to explore the university, discover its facilities and programs, and experience a glimpse of the learning environment and activities that IAU has to offer.

As part of their tour, the students also visited the Indiana Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit (IDRRMU). They learned more about our unit, our roles and responsibilities, and the importance of promoting safety, preparedness, and disaster awareness within the university community.

The students also gained insights into the different activities of IDRRMU and how our members help ensure that the university community is better prepared to respond during emergencies.

It was a meaningful day of learning, exploration, and new experiences—giving our visitors not only a glimpse of life at IAU but also a better understanding of the importance of being aware, prepared, and ready to help.

We hope you went home with new memories, new knowledge, and meaningful experiences to carry with you.

𝑾𝒂𝒗𝒆 11: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞!

On September 13, 2026, the Wave 11 trainees continued their learning journey through a day of training and immersion in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM).

The morning session focused on the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PH DRRM) setting and was facilitated by our Adviser, Ms. Domecq Airreil L. Macaraya.

The trainees were introduced to the four thematic areas of DRRM: Prevention and Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. They learned that DRRM goes beyond responding when disasters happen—it also means identifying and reducing risks beforehand, preparing people and resources, taking appropriate action during emergencies, and supporting communities in their restoration and recovery.

Through the discussion, the trainees gained a deeper understanding of the foundations of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and its application in the Philippine setting.

In the afternoon, the trainees proceeded with their Research and Planning (R&P) Immersion, facilitated by members of the R&P Division.

The session focused on weather and hazards, helping the trainees understand different weather conditions, the hazards associated with them, and how weather information and hazard awareness can contribute to better preparedness and sound decision-making during emergencies.

To cap off the immersion, the trainees participated in evaluation activities designed to assess their understanding, reinforce key lessons, and put their learning into practice.

Every lesson learned is another step toward becoming more prepared, capable, and ready to serve.

“Learn more. Prepare more. Serve better.”
