𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | Palattao files candidacy for CSC presidency

Mark Jonard A. Palattao, an incoming fourth-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English (BSEd English) student and current Vice President of the Campus Student Council (CSC), filed his candidacy for the presidency in the upcoming CSC elections yesterday, March 30.

In an interview, Palattao stated that his decision to run stems from his commitment to continue serving the student body and strengthening student-centered programs.

“I have seen the need for a leader who listens and takes action here at CSU-Lasam. As president, I will remain responsible and committed to addressing the concerns and needs of the student body,” he said.

He also noted that his leadership agenda will focus on inclusivity, transparency, and amplifying student voices within the campus.

“I will continue the programs of the current administration to promote inclusivity, and I will keep students informed with regular updates and reports through social media platforms for transparency and to ensure stronger participation, I will work with college representatives so every student has a voice and a platform to share their concerns,” he added.

Palattao is currently the lone candidate vying for the CSC presidency in the upcoming elections, which will be held on April 7, 2026 at the New Academic and Laboratory Building. #

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 2 BSEd English students bag campus outstanding leader, journalist titles

Two fourth-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in English students were honored for excellence in leadership and campus journalism as the Office of the Student Welfare and Development (OSDW) released the official results of the 2026 Campus Search for Most Outstanding Student Organizations, Student Leaders, and Student Journalists.

Emerging as Most Outstanding Student Leader is Campus Student Council (CSC) President Jomar M. Godoy, while The Ripple Editor-in-Chief John Warren Peneyra was named Most Outstanding Student Journalist.

In an interview, Godoy highlighted the impact of student-centered initiatives during his term.

“I am most proud of programs that helped students feel seen, involved, and united on campus,” he said.

Peneyra, meanwhile, emphasized that journalism goes beyond intelligence and writing skills.

“Hindi sapat na matalino ka lang— kailangan mong hanapin at panindigan ang katotohanan,” he noted.

He also underscored the value of continuous practice in honing journalistic skills, especially in competitive settings.

The annual search recognizes individuals and organizations who demonstrated exemplary performance in leadership, service, and campus journalism across the academic year.
