After years of navigating the demands of campus journalism alongside the rigors of teacher education, The Ripple Editor-in-Chief John Warren Peneyra was named the 9th Most Outstanding Student Journalist of the Cagayan State University (CSU).
The results were officially released by the CSU Office of Student Welfare and Development (OSDW) yesterday, March 24.
Peneyra shared that there were moments when he nearly gave up, especially while balancing the demands of being an education student and a campus journalist.
โThere are so many responsibilities to handle all at onceโฆ I often feel pressured and confused about how to manage my time,โ he said, recalling the overwhelming demands of practice teaching alongside publication deadlines.
Despite these challenges, he remained steadfast, drawing strength from those who believed in him.
โWhat kept me going were the people who believed in meโฆ I hold on to their support as a reminder that I can do this,โ he said.
Beyond the title, Peneyra hopes his legacy will be defined by perseverance rather than accolades.
โI would like to be remembered as someone who may not be the most intelligent student journalist on campus, but who possesses perseverance and determination, and who proves that these can take you far,โ he added.
