DEBESMSCAT Hosts BiCoRSE Startup Roadshow to Fuel Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship
OCTOBER 28, 2026 - Student innovators, aspiring entrepreneurs, and regional tech leaders gathered at the College Function Hall today as Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) hosted the BiCoRSE Startup Roadshow.
Organized in collaboration with the Bicol Consortium for Regional Startup Enablers (BiCoRSE), the event introduced students to the startup ecosystem, highlighting opportunities in technology and business development. Throughout the session, participants were challenged to rethink local problems in Masbate and the broader Bicol region, turning them into creative, market-ready solutions.
The roadshow brought together a strong turnout of student leaders across several academic units, including the College of Engineering, College of Business and Economics, College of Computer and Information Technology, and College of Agricultural Sciences.
Speakers from BiCoRSE led practical discussions on taking ideas from initial concepts to working enterprises, navigating funding and incubation paths, and using technology as a driver for sustainable economic growth.
The activity was carried out through the support of the DEBESMSCAT administration under College President Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, together with the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, Innovation, Creative Works, and Knowledge Management (VPREICWKM) led by Dr. Rodolfo B. Burac, Jr., the Research Office under Director Dr. Sherwin E. Balbuena, and DEBESMSCAT Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) Director, Engr. Marco Angelo Dejucos.
By partnering with regional startup networks, DEBESMSCAT continues to build a culture of innovation on campus, giving students the tools and platform to build impactful ventures for the province.
