𝐓𝐁𝐉 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐂𝐌𝐂

The Brahmans’ Journal (TBJ) joined the 17th National Campus Media Conference (NCMC), themed “Shaping Powerful and Adaptive Media in the AI Era: Fostering Integrity, Excellence, and Competence in Socio-Political Reporting among Campus Journalists,” held at the Crown Legacy Hotel in Baguio City, Oct. 22-24.

The conference gathered 1,353 delegates from 126 schools nationwide, with TBJ representatives competing in various individual competitions for students and faculty.

Among the delegation, Angel Anne Amparado placed fourth in Editorial Cartooning (Filipino) and ninth in Literary Illustration (Filipino), while Atty. Mayling Ilagan-Capuno secured tenth place in Opinion Writing (English).

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) College of Health and Science (CHS) and University of Batangas Batangas City (UBBC) College of Nursing (CoN) conducted the 36th Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony, at the UB Millennium Gymnasium, Batangas City, Oct. 22.

419 second year nursing students from the class of 2029 received their caps and pins in the ceremony led by Dr. Judith Mary Ann Rulloda Chan of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office IV, together with the CHS and CoN faculty.

The tradition marks the official commencement of the students' clinical duties and hands-on training in the medical field under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

Lahat ng pagnanakaw ay may bakas na naiiwan. May mga bayang unti-unting kinukuhanan ng kinabukasan, at may mga katotohanang ipinagpapalit sa sariling kapakanan.

Ngunit sa bawat saknong na sumusugat sa konsensiya, muling nabibigyang-tinig ang mga matagal nang ipinagkaitang marinig. Ang panitikan ay nagiging saksi sa mga kasalanang pilit kinakalimutan at paalala sa mga pananagutang hindi maaaring takasan.

At sa araw na magsimulang maningil ang sambayanan, walang trono ang mananatiling ligtas sa bigat ng katotohanan.

Beyond the borders that separate us, the languages we speak, and the cultures that shape our identity, United Nations Day reminds us that despite our differences, we share a collective responsibility to promote peace, uphold human rights, and build a world where everyone has the opportunity to live with hope, security, happiness, and dignity.

As we commemorate this day, let us remember the importance of unity and mutual understanding in addressing the challenges that affect our world. May this celebration inspire us to become more compassionate, responsible, and open-minded global citizens. Let us remember that creating meaningful change does not always require grand efforts; sometimes, it begins with respecting another person's perspective, standing up for what is right, and choosing understanding over division.

Together, let's continue to build bridges across differences, strengthen the bonds that unite us, and work toward a peaceful future. May we continue to stand for equality, respect, and a world where every voice matters—because building a better world begins with understanding one another.

Sa bawat pahinang napupuno ng mga salitang may tapang, patuloy na inilalantad ang mga katotohanang pilit ikinukubli.

Bawat isyung ibinubunyag ay nagiging mitsa ng galit, pag-asa, at paninindigang hindi kayang patahimikin. Sapagkat ang pamamahayag ay hindi lamang pagsusulat ng mga nagaganap, kundi pakikibaka laban sa mga puwersang nagnanais magkubli ng katotohanan.

Dahil hangga’t may katiwaliang umiiral, may tinig na sisingil.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: In continuation of Punla sa Kalikasan 2026, the Community Extension Services (CES) of the University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) has conducted a tree-planting activity at Biak na Bundok, Brgy. Talisay, Oct. 16.

Spearheaded by CES coordinator Apolinario Maranan, together with Student Government (SG) advisor Arjay Gonzales, and high school principal Jefferson M. Litan. The activity drew approximately 140 participants, composed of high school students, and 30 college volunteers working in collaboration with the SG.

As part of the ongoing Punla initiative, UBLC returned to the site for a follow-up replanting activity, adding around 200 seedlings to the area.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: University of Batangas Lipa City - College Red Cross Youth Council (UBLC-CRCYC) held a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Caravan in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross - Batangas Chapter to familiarize participants with basic CPR procedures at the UBLC Gymnasium, Oct. 16.

With the members of both organizations serving as facilitators, first- to fourth-year college volunteers participated in the activity, practicing CPR techniques using water jerrycans dressed in red T-shirts as improvised mannequins.

Led by the Emergency Medical Technician, Mr. Homer A Castillo, the training was conducted in two batches, with the facilitators demonstrating the proper steps in performing CPR and Mr. Castillo explaining the Check, Call, and Care (3Cs) method as an easy-to-remember framework for emergency response.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the guest speakers and digital certificates to the participants in recognition of their active participation and completion of the training.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) hosted the Founders Memorial Lecture (FML) anchored on "PAGTANAW 2050: The Philippine Foresight on Science, Technology, and Innovation” at the Multipurpose Hall, Bldg. C, Oct. 15.

The lecture focused on the PAGTANAW 2050 roadmap, a 30-year strategic plan initiated by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). This framework addresses national challenges, including climate change, resource scarcity, and technological advancements. The strategic inputs of this national development agenda are engineered to directly benefit an estimated 144 million Filipinos by the year 2050.

During the event, Prof. Fortunato de la Peña, the former DOST Secretary and Filipino engineer, discussed the foundations of science and technology.

Following this, Dr. Benito M. Pacheco, a structural engineer and disaster risk resilience academic, discussed Multi-Hazard Risk Analysis.

The event ended with closing remarks from Dr. Maria Cecilia Q. Verceles, the auditor and chairman of the FML, officially closed the program.
