IFST asserts its role in the food manufacturing industry by enhancing collaborative research and providing vital services that will uplift the small industries as well as ascertain the position of IFST in the operations of the big players in the industry to further achieve or maintain their corporate stature. Participation of IFST in the crucial steps of raw material sourcing, quality control prog

rams and manufacturing will provide a strong link between the industry and IFST. The alignment of the functions of IFST to the needs of the industry will strengthen its role for a more progressive Philippine agriculture. It will also accomplish its mandate to help farmers in promoting their produce through value adding and linking with the food industry to introduce and create new product lines from diverse raw materials found in the country. Further, the IFST will continue to:

(1) develop a critical mass of leaders, teachers, researchers and extension workers in food science and technology;

(2) generate basic information through research for the efficient handling, distribution, processing and utilization of agricultural produce;\

(3) develop appropriate and efficient food handling and processing technologies; and provide technical assistance to the various sectors of food industry, particularly the small and the medium enterprises SMEs

IFST researchers and graduate students proudly showcased their work at the Philippine-American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE) Annual Meeting and Symposium held on May 28–29 at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, Bagac, Bataan. The event brought together Filipino and Philippine-American scientists and engineers to exchange ideas, present research, and foster meaningful collaborations.

Representing IFST, Mr. Romel Felismino shared his work through an oral presentation, while Ms. Aiza Umali, Ms. Eli Valencia, Ms. Shaira Reyes, Ms. Sherina Ramos, Mr. Argel Largado, and Mr. Kevin Gasatan presented their research through poster sessions. Adding to the celebration, Aiza Umali's presentation earned the People’s Choice Award, proof that impactful research not only informs but also inspires.

More than presenting their studies, our researchers took part in meaningful conversations, exchanged ideas with fellow scientists, and showcased the passion behind their work.
