How can civil society make its voice heard in regional decision-making? 🌏

As part of the ASEAN Studies Lecture Series (ASLS), this session will explore “Quiet Diplomacy, Loud Voices: Can Civil Society Be Heard in ASEAN?”

ASEAN has committed itself to being a people-oriented, people-centred community. But who actually gets a seat at the table? This session examines how civil society organizations, women’s groups, and Indigenous peoples enter ASEAN spaces, and how they are kept out. We will also look at the limits set by consensus, non-interference, and closed-door diplomacy. Finally, we will ask what it would take for the region’s quiet diplomacy to truly listen to its loudest, yet most marginalized, voices.

Visioning Summit Day 2: UP NCPAG Dean Berse introduces LCLEAD project

Dean Kristoffer B. Berse of UP National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) introduces Local Colleges for Lifelong Education, Access, and Development (LCLEAD) project on the second day of the Visioning Summit at UP Open University (UPOU) CCDL in Los Baños, Laguna. This project aims to evolve local colleges into purpose-driven and community-based institutions aligned with local and global industry needs.

The LCLEAD project is a collaboration of Commission on Higher Education (CHED), UPOU, and UP NCPAG through GRIT Labs. Through LCLEAD project, local colleges can enroll to six microcredentials: (1) Community Education, (2) Program Design and Development, (3) Data Analytics, (4) Planning, Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation Program, (5) Change Management, and (6) Governance.

Dean Berse emphasized that the colleges, local government, employers, and communities needs to be in dialogue. The materialization of the vision in elevating education and community needs cannot work in isolation. Therefore, he highly encouraged administrators and academe to participate in the project as they are in the unique position to strengthen their respective institutions through LCLEAD. In addition, their participation will be fully funded by CHED.

Visioning Summit carries on its second day session at UPOU Centennial Center for Digital Learning (CCDL) Auditorium in Los Banos

UPOU Chancellor Joane V. Serrano started the second day of the Visioning Summit by welcoming the delegates from different LUCs in Luzon, following the Cebu leg yesterday.

This event is spearheaded through the collaboration of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), and the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP NCPAG) through GRIT Labs.
CHED Chairperson Shirley Agrupis, through her keynote address, set the tone for today's event. Subsequently, CHED Director Lora L. Yusi expressed her shared vision of improving local colleges and the quality of education in the Philippines through CHED's ACHIEVE Agenda.

The 56th Los Baños Flower and Garden Show is now open at the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Community Hub, bringing together plant lovers and horticulture enthusiasts.

The show is organized in partnership with the Los Baños Horticulture Society Inc. (LBHS), with support from UPOU’s Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS).
