SLSU BSHM Students Capture 1st Place in ASEAN Food Festival, Earn Multiple Honors at VOYAGE 2026
BACOOR, CAVITE โ Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students emerged 1st Place in the ASEAN Food Festival category of VOYAGE 2026: The ASEAN Festival of CALABARZON, held on September 1, 2026, in Bacoor, Cavite.
Representing the Philippines, BSHM students Kurt P. Gloton, Kenneth G. Palad, and Christian Vincent O. Daleon, under the guidance of their coach, Dr. Claire Ann M. Yao, bested 11 finalist schools in the culminating stage of the competition.
The SLSU team impressed the judges with their innovative presentation of Philippine cuisine, featuring a main course, street food, and beverage that showcased Filipino culinary creativity, local flavors, and cultural identity. Their performance earned them a trophy, certificate, and โฑ7,000 cash prize.
The victory highlights the students' culinary skills, creativity, teamwork, and dedication in promoting Philippine gastronomy through an ASEAN-themed competition. It also reflects the commitment of the SLSU BSHM program to developing hospitality professionals capable of competing and excelling in regional and international platforms.
Meanwhile, other SLSU representatives competing in separate VOYAGE 2026 categories also brought distinction to the university. SLSU earned 1st Runner-Up in the ASEAN Ambassadress category and 1st Runner-Up in the Cultural Presentation, while another SLSU representative secured 3rd Runner-Up in the ASEAN Quiz Bee.
SLSU representatives also advanced as finalists in the Poster Making Competition and Male Ambassador category, further demonstrating the university's strong representation across the various components of the ASEAN Festival.
The SLSU community extends its warmest congratulations to Team SLSU BSHM, Coach Dr. Claire Ann M. Yao, and all SLSU representatives who proudly carried the university's name at VOYAGE 2026.
