More than a century has passed since the Philippine flag was first raised as a symbol of a nation's freedom, yet the story of being Filipino continues to unfold with every generation.
The lives we live now, the opportunities we have, the dreams we pursue, the voices we freely express, are built upon the sacrifices of people who came before us. People who loved this country enough to fight for it, even when the outcome was uncertain.
Being Filipino has never been easy. Being Filipino means carrying both pride and frustration, celebrating our victories while recognizing the challenges that remain. Yet through it all, there is something remarkable about the Filipino spirit: our ability to endure, to hope, and to keep moving forward.
As we commemorate the 128th Independence Day of the Philippines, may we continue to honor our history not only by remembering it, but by living in a way that contributes to the future of our nation— through integrity, compassion, courage, and love for our fellow Filipinos.
