College of Governance and Public Policy Statement on Corruption and Integrity in Government

The College of Governance and Public Policy joins the Filipino people in denouncing the widespread corruption and misuse of public funds and resources on questionable flood control projects.

As taxpayers, we feel robbed of our hard-earned money.

As public servants, we feel disgusted by the audacity of the few to prey on the many.

We denounce in the strongest terms the corruption that risks the lives and livelihoods of our fellow Filipinos, the collusion between our officials that enabled this level of corruption, and the lack of accountability that weakens and damages our political and social institutions.

While we support the Independent Commission on Infrastructure formed by the President, we believe that its functions and responsibilities will further be strengthened by an enabling law that will truly uphold its institutional independence, compel resource persons to appear before the Commission, and file charges against those found responsible for the gross misuse of public funds.

As public servants, we are committed to uphold the highest ethical standards, keeping in mind that public office is a public trust, and we urge our fellow civil servants to do the same.

This provides them the benefits of access to IPSA’s extensive online resources, expand their professional networks, and, most importantly, cultivate greater opportunities for research and scholarly collaboration.
