History and Background of the School
Kisante National High School formerly named Kisante Barangay School believes that quality education is achieved through collaborative efforts of all committed and dedicated stakeholders serving the constituents wholeheartedly. It is situated at the heart of the barangay and is about 250 meters away from the Cotabato-Davao national highway. The school is access
ible to the students living in the neighboring barangays through skylabs and multicabs and other motor vehicles. Macario Castillano who was the barangay captain at that time. During the first school year, 1967-1968, only the first curriculum year was added in 1969-1970 in its third year of operation and in the school year 1970-1971 the school had its first graduation with 30 graduates. In the succeeding school years the student population kept on increasing until the establishment of the annexes and from the school year 2006-2007 up to the present, the population has been maintained within the range 627-690. At first, there was no school site for high School, so Kisante Elementary School and Kisante High School had common site and buildings. But when the barangay captain Samuel Manuel was the PTA President and at the same time the barangay captain, he worked hard in order that high school will be given an area for school site. Through his efforts and the school is 8,000 sq. meters and is located just adjacent to the Kisante Elementary School School. Later, Kisante Elementary School had given additional area of 50 square meters with total of 8,050 sq. The Kisante High School procured additional area of 1,237 sq. and now the total land area of the school is 9,287 sq. In its 44 years of operation, Kisante National High School has gone far in terms of achievements and accomplishments both in academic and extracurricular. In the academic competitions such as English Festivals, Math Olympics, MTAP, and Sciences Camping, the School garnered several awards from the Municipals Level to the Division Level to the some contestants made it even to the Regional Level competitions. The School was once awarded fourth place as the Most Effective and Outstanding Secondary School (Nationalized High School). Most recently, the School got the third place in the Search for Most innovative Brigada Eskwela Plus Implementer 2010 under Exceptional Schools category (Regional Level). In the same year, the school also became the champion in the Cotabato Provincial Meet Swimming (Girls) Competition and in the previous years the school’s swimmers also excelled in swimming competitions from the Zone Meets to the Provincial Meets and some qualified to complete in the CRAA and one qualified for the Palarong Pambansa Swimming competition. The Band and Lyre Corps of the school had also garnered several awards in the different competitions it participated in. The Dance Troupe had also been able to win in several contests. In journalism, the school’s student writers also garnered several awards from the Division Press Conferences to the Regional Press Conferences and even to the National Press Conferences. The school also took active participation in Boys Scouting and Girls Scouting and has been given awards during Jamborees and Encampments. One of the notable accomplishments of the school is the establishment of annexes through the efforts of the school head, Mrs. Calinga, and the Local leaders. The first annex that was established in the school year 1995-1996 was the Malasila Hgh School and it was legislated into Malasila National Vocational and Technological High School (MNVTS), then the Ricardo L. Ipong National High school (RLIHS) followed in the school year 2000-2001, next was Batasan National High School located at barangay Batasan, Makilala, Cotabato which was established in the school year 2005-2006 and most recently in the school year 2009-2010, the Beinvenido Orteza National High School in Barangay Sta. Felomina, Makilala, Cotabato and Sto. Niño National High School in barangay Sto. Niño, Makilala, Cotabato which were both established simultaneously and are now in their third year of operation.
