LOOK: MARINA defers NaMMAT Implementation for AY 2026–2027
The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has deferred the implementation of the National Merchant Marine Aptitude Test (NaMMAT) for Academic Year 2026–2027 pending a comprehensive review of its administration.
The decision follows the transfer of full responsibility for NaMMAT administration from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to MARINA under Republic Act No. 12021, or the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers, and MARINA Advisory No. 2025-39.
In lieu of NaMMAT results, all Maritime Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) are directed to admit and enroll incoming students and transferees using their respective institutional admission or entrance examinations for screening and selection.
MARINA also urged MHEIs to strengthen the rigor, validity, and reliability of their entrance examinations to ensure compliance with national and international maritime education standards.
The advisory remains in effect until further issuances are released by the agency.| via Angel Caritero
