The De La Salle University Libraries mourns the passing of Dr. Efren R. Abueg (March 3, 1937 – July 20, 2026), donor of Efren R. Abueg Collection.

In 2018, Dr. Abueg entrusted DLSU Libraries with his private collection: 1,794 books, rare original manuscripts, and 77 pieces of memorabilia spanning literature, philosophy, and the social sciences. The collection remains available to researchers, faculty, and students, and stands as a lasting record of his life's work as a multi-awarded Filipino writer.

We are grateful for his generosity and for the trust he placed in DLSU Libraries to preserve and share his materials with future generations. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, Dr. Abueg.
