Nagpapatuloy ang impeachment proceedings laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte kasabay ng pormal na pag-upo ng Senado bilang impeachment court. Sa gitna ng mahahalagang kaganapang ito, mahalagang marinig ang tinig ng mamamayan hinggil sa takbo ng paglilitis at pananagutan ng mga nasa kapangyarihan.

Sa araw na ito, tinatanong natin ang mga Lingkod-Bayan:

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥 | 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

The Senate has formally convened as an impeachment court following the referral of the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte to the Committee on Rules.

During the session, Senate President Alan Cayetano announced key procedural developments, including the election of the Senate Secretary and the designation of the Clerk of Court for the impeachment proceedings.

The Senate also acknowledged the formal transmittal of the Articles of Impeachment by the House of Representatives, delivered through Secretary General Chloy Velicaria-Garafil, pursuant to constitutional and procedural rules governing impeachment proceedings.

The session adjourned at 4:40 PM and is set to resume tomorrow, May 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥 | 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

Senate President Alan Cayetano read before the Senate impeachment court the issuance of a writ of summons directing Vice President Sara Duterte to file her answer within a non-negotiable period of ten (10) calendar days upon receipt, pursuant to the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials.

He also stated that the Sergeant-at-Arms is directed to serve the summons and a copy of the Articles of Impeachment to the Vice President. Following the submission of her answer, the prosecution may file its reply within five (5) calendar days.

SP Alan Cayetano further announced that the Clerk of Court is authorized to calendar the case for pre-trial after the filing of the last pleadings, with the trial proper to commence on a date and time to be set by the impeachment court.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥 | 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

The House of Representatives has formally transmitted to the Senate twenty-seven (27) copies of Committee Report No. 261 on House Resolution No. 989, containing the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, together with its annexes and twenty-seven (27) USB devices containing digital file copies of the documents.

The Senate also received:
- A sealed box of documents from the Bureau of Internal Revenue related to the impeachment proceedings, which has been referred to the Committee on Rules; and
- The official list of prosecutors elected by the House of Representatives for the impeachment trial, namely Representatives Luistro, Ridon, Gutierrez, Zamora, Defensor, Diokno, De Lima, Bag-ao, Flores, Suan, and Chua.

As the proceedings move forward, the nation continues to witness how democratic institutions exercise accountability, and uphold constitutional processes within government.

Today, as the Senate convenes for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, we refuse to be passive spectators to their political circus.

As a lingkod-bayan, the communities where the people live are already calling for us. It is now the time that we heed their call as we translate our learned theories into action. For the true cost of this political decay cannot be fully understood within the four corners of our classrooms—it must be witnessed and fought alongside the people.

History is shaped by the sheer courage of the youth. Let us take a stand as we militantly champion accountability and social justice. Let us collectively fight for our future amid the crisis brought about by their power struggle. Only through militant struggle can the best in youth emerge.

Congratulations to our Hackathon Champions, 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗲, 𝗠𝗶𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝘆𝗮𝗻, 𝗡𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮, from 𝗕𝗣𝗔-𝗙𝗔 𝟮-𝟭, and 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗻 from 𝗕𝗣𝗔 𝟮-𝟭, for emerging victorious in the Policy Brief Competition, “Leading Ladies!”, held at Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Quezon City.

With their outstanding policy brief entitled “The Unshattered Wicked Problem: Addressing Women Employment Inequality in the Philippines,” the team demonstrated excellence in critical analysis, policy-oriented thinking, and evidence-based governance solutions.

Anchored on the theme, “Shattering Glass Walls: Women Thriving in Good Governance,” the competition challenged participants to craft practical and research-driven policy recommendations addressing gender issues in governance, development, and society.

Their dedication to advancing gender-responsive governance and inclusive development reflects the true essence of public service and transformative leadership.
