When should a leader step aside? And what happens when they don’t? 👔⏳

Retirement doesn’t have to mean the end of a leader’s contribution. In many Philippine companies, senior executives continue to bring valuable experience, relationships, and institutional knowledge long after the traditional retirement age.

But there’s another side to the conversation. 💭

When leadership transitions are delayed, how do we make room for the next generation? How can organizations preserve the wisdom of experienced leaders while giving younger professionals opportunities to grow, lead, and make their mark? 🌱🚀

This article takes a closer look at retirement, succession, intergenerational fairness, and the future of leadership in Philippine organizations.

🏆 DLSU Tanglaw brings home the gold!

Congratulations to Team DLSU Tanglaw—MBA students Jan Jumine Reyes, Franchette Romjin Kim Miller, and Fernando Granada—for winning 1st Place at the BRI GAMA International Business Case Competition (BRI GAMA IBCC) 2026, held September 3-5, 2026, in Jakarta, Indonesia! 🇮🇩🎉

The BRI GAMA IBCC is an annual international business case competition organized by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), the Faculty of Economics and Business Alumni Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAFEGAMA), and the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM). Team DLSU Tanglaw bested 65 teams from around the world, advancing through the pre-competition stage and two Business Case Challenges (BCC I and BCC II) before facing off in the Grand Finals in Jakarta.

We're incredibly proud of the team's hard work, sharp thinking, and dedication throughout the competition—huge thanks as well to their faculty adviser, Dr. Mary Margaret Que, for her guidance every step of the way.
