Literature Majors Help Bring Bantayog ng mga Bayani’s Wall of Remembrance to Life

DLSU Literature majors who completed their practicum at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation, Inc.—Johara Marie Canlas, Gabrell Aiyanna Domingo, Panjee Galarpe, Trevor John Gonzales, Treasure Shantel Palencia, and Gabrielle Louise Valdez—took part in the annual commemoration of martyrs and heroes held on Bonifacio Day, November 30, 2025.

This year’s gathering marked the inauguration of Phase 1 of the Buhay ng Bantayog Redevelopment Project, which features the newly unveiled Wall of Remembrance, an expanded memorial that shares crucial information on Martial Law and honors those who bravely resisted the dictatorship.

Bantayog Director May Rodriguez praised the students for their contribution to the development of the Wall of Remembrance, commending their diligence and commitment to historical memory. The interns themselves shared that working at Bantayog was a deeply rewarding experience—one that allowed them to engage directly with the practice of memory work and public humanities.

The ceremony was attended by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, members of the Bantayog Board of Trustees, families of Martial Law victims and honorees, and supporters dedicated to preserving democratic memory.
