The President, Dominicq Peña, represented the Association of Biological Engineers of Mapúa (BioLOGIC) at the Youth Caravan for Health Reforms, a seminar hosted by the Youth for Health Coalition in Marikina City last May 2, 2026.

Marikeño youth and student leaders came together to address pressing public health challenges, focusing on:
(1) proposed tax reforms on ci******es and e-ci******es, alcohol, and sugar-sweetened beverages, and
(2) strengthening the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act. Key discussions emphasized deterring the consumption of harmful products, protecting the youth, and ensuring that tax revenues are directed toward sustaining UHC.

The Caravan empowered participants to take an active role in 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 Through informed voices and collective action, the youth continue to drive efforts toward a healthier future for all Filipinos.

On April 28, 2026, BioLOGIC members showed up and immersed themselves in the second installment of the 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀—bringing together minds from the UP Manila Flow Cytometry Core, the Mammalian Cell Culture Laboratory (MCCL), and the SCIARM Laboratory.

We had the privilege of learning from 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟. 𝗔𝘀𝗶, Senior Science Research Specialist, as she delivered a compelling session on “Human Cell Culture, Biosafety and Ethics: Focus on HIV In Vitro Disease Modeling.”

From cutting-edge lab practices to the critical role of ethics in HIV research, the talk sparked curiosity, challenged perspectives, and reminded us why we step into science in the first place 💡

Moments like these fuel our drive to 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲. Here’s to continuously growing, exploring, and pushing boundaries together 🧬✨
