The UP College of Medicine - Research Implementation and Development Office (RIDO) is pleased to announce that we are now accepting submissions for the “2026 Dr. Evangeline Olivar Santos Memorial Awards for Best Student Research Paper."

The purpose of the award is to encourage students of the UP College of Medicine (UPCM) to pursue high-impact research that can be published in peer-reviewed local and international journals adhering to high standards of scholarship.

The grantee of the Dr. Evangeline Olivar Santos Memorial Award for Best Student Research will receive a maximum of $500.00 (in equivalent peso).

• Eligibility:
o All bonafide students of the UP College of Medicine
o First author of the publication
 UPCM must be indicated as the affiliate institution
o Did not apply for the International Publication Assistance Award by the OVPAA
o Paper was presented in a research conference OR accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed international or local journal.
 Not articles in book reviews, letters to the editor, editorials, and commentaries

• Requirements:
o Fully accomplished EOS Form 2.1
o Copy of research manuscript
o Copy of editorial board page of the journal and/or proof of presentation in a research conference
o RIDO registration certificate
o RGAO registration certificate
o UPMREB approval certificate

The UP College of Medicine successfully held its 2026 Research Forum, bringing together faculty members, medical students, and researchers to explore the responsible use of artificial intelligence in healthcare and the role of research evidence in advancing universal health care reforms.

With the theme “Nurturing a Shared Culture of Inquiry,” the forum was held as part of the 31st Philippine General Hospital Annual Research Week, highlighting the importance of collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based research in improving healthcare for the Filipino people.

The forum was organized by the Department of Clinical Epidemiology (DCE) and the Medical Informatics Unit, in collaboration with the Research Implementation and Development Office (RIDO).

The 2026 UPCM Faculty and Student Research Forum successfully concluded today, October 16, 2026, bringing together faculty members, students, and researchers to celebrate research, share knowledge, and exchange ideas under the theme “Nurturing a Shared Culture of Inquiry” and the sub-themes “Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Health” and "Evidence for Universal Healthcare (UHC)."

Congratulations to the organizing team for making this event possible, and our heartfelt thanks to all the speakers, presenters, and participants who contributed to the success of this year's forum. Your dedication and active participation continue to strengthen a shared culture of research and innovation within the UP College of Medicine.
