In the pivotal Senate hearing held on January 14, 2025, hosted by the Senate Committee on Civil Service, Government Reorganization, and Professional Regulation, proposed amendments to the Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act (Republic Act No. 7836, as amended by RA 9293) were tackled. To address critical challenges in teacher licensure and professionalization, representatives from various government institutions, educational organizations, and teacher associations were invited as resource persons to share insights on the topic during the hearing. Headlining these institutions were officials from the Philippine Normal University (PNU), the country’s National Center for Teacher Education, and its Research Institute for Teacher Quality (RITQ).

At the helm of the Senate hearing was the Chair of the Senate Basic Education Committee, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian. In one of his statements, Senator Gatchalian underscored the importance of future-proofing the law to continuously respond to the evolving situation in the teaching profession.

EVERY DAY IS MUSEUM DAY! 🏛️🇵🇭

The National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) welcomed 2025 with an exciting announcement that its Manila Central Complex and Regional Component Museums are now open to the public from Monday to Sunday with free admission.

“Universal access has always been our priority. By opening our museums every day and maintaining free admission, we aim to make our programs and services even more accessible to everybody,” they wrote.

NMP recently held its first-ever exhibit of a clay sculpture made by national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, depicting his wife Josephine Bracken peacefully sleeping, to commemorate the 128th anniversary of his martyrdom. (Facebook/National Museum of the Philippines)

I can no longer count the number of times I’ve mentioned this in my speaking engagements, but it has to be reiterated. I’m all for child protection. But I’m also for strengthening student discipline policies; empowering our teachers and school administrators as special parents, and recognizing teachers as persons in authority.

Oh, Alma mater ko!

One hundred and twenty-three years ago, a humble school opened its doors to aspiring Filipino educators. Since then, the institution has continued to fulfill its promise of becoming the breeding ground for the country’s trailblazers, movers, and most importantly, premier teachers.

Today, we look back with gratitude, as we celebrate the rich history and sense of community that have propelled us to reach unprecedented heights as a leading entity in teacher education, not only in the country but across the world.

As we commemorate this significant event in our university’s storied legacy, we proudly embrace the theme 𝗣𝗡𝗨@𝟭𝟮𝟯: 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Nakikiisa ang buong pamayanan ng Pamantasang Normal ng Pilipinas sa pagdiriwang ng Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani o National Heroes Day.

Ang pag-alalang ito ay para sa mga kilala at di-kilalang bayaning ipinaglaban ang ating Kalayaan at Karapatan. Ito rin ay pagsaludo sa mga makabagong bayani na patuloy na naninindigan at nakikiisa para sa kaunlaran ng ating bansang Pilipinas.

Patuloy nating alalahanin at isabuhay ang mga aral at kadakilaan ng ating mga bayani. Ito nawa ay maging gabay sa araw-araw na pamumuhay para sa ikauunlad ng ating bayan.
