The Department of Mathematics, College of Arts and Sciences, Central Mindanao University proudly presents the ’26 Final Defense 🎓 of its BS Mathematics students.

This year’s final defense features undergraduate research 📚 in a wide range of areas, including Dynamical Systems and Modeling, Bayesian Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Algebra, Analysis, Graph Theory, Algebraic Graph Theory, Numerical Graph Theory, and Topological Graph Theory.

These studies reflect the students’ sustained effort, discipline, and commitment to mathematical inquiry 🧠, as well as the guidance of their research advisers 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫 throughout the preparation of their theses.

The Department extends its best wishes 🌟 to all student-researchers as they present and defend the results of their work. May this important academic undertaking serve as a meaningful culmination of their undergraduate journey and a strong beginning for their future pursuits in mathematics, research, and professional practice.

A little late, but with great pride, the Department of Mathematics, Central Mindanao University, shares highlights from the recently conducted Master’s Thesis Defenses 🎓 held on April 16, 2026 📅 at ASComLab 📍

The presentations featured the following studies in Graph Theory 📘:

• Safe Radius Centrality in Graphs
• Enclaveless Sets in Graphs
• Total Defensive Alliances in Graphs

These thesis defenses reflect the commitment of our graduate students 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓 to meaningful mathematical research and the continued growth of scholarship in the Department 📚

Every year we announce a theme to flavor the celebration, spark creativity and bring light to connections between mathematics and all sorts of fields, concepts and ideas.

Thales said, "Hope is the most universal of all human possessions." More than 2,500 years later, we can also say that mathematics is one of the most universal human possessions.

Connecting hope and mathematics creates opportunities for deeper insight and knowledge. Mathematics gives us hope to understand reality and truth clearly, share common definitions, learn cooperation, use data responsibly, find win-win strategies, and more.
