EXCELLENCE IN SCHOLARLY WORK: FINAL RESEARCH DEFENSE

On April 12, 2026 (Sunday), Jamiatul Philippines Al-Islamia successfully conducted the Final Defense for the Fourth Year students of the Social Work program, Batch Sindaw. This significant academic milestone marked the culmination of rigorous study and research, demonstrating the institution's commitment to upholding high standards of education and professional competence. The event was graced by the presence of the Higher Education Dean, Dr. Raisalam B. Maunti, together with the esteemed members of the research panelists.

Throughout the proceedings, the students exhibited profound knowledge, critical analysis, and professional composure in addressing the inquiries and evaluations of the board. Their presentations reflected not only academic proficiency but also a deep understanding of social welfare principles and ethical practice. The guidance provided by the Dean and the constructive feedback from the panelists further validated the students' readiness to transition from the academic setting to actual professional practice.

We commend Batch Sindaw for successfully reaching this pivotal moment in their academic journey. Their dedication and perseverance have brought them to the threshold of their careers. Lecture–Forum
“From Welfare to Empowerment: How Social Workers Uplift Lives Beyond Assistance”

Alhamdulillah, the JPI Social Work Department successfully conducted a meaningful Lecture–Forum entitled “From Welfare to Empowerment: How Social Workers Uplift Lives Beyond Assistance” on April 10, 2026, held at the Social Hall, Provincial Capitol, Marawi City.

The activity served as an enriching academic engagement that highlighted the vital role of social workers in transforming lives—not merely through the provision of welfare services, but through empowering individuals, families, and communities to become self-reliant and resilient. The lecture emphasized the transition from traditional assistance to sustainable empowerment, reinforcing the profession’s commitment to social justice, human dignity, and community development.

Our sincere appreciation and gratitude to our esteemed resource speaker, Haimah A. Manongcarang, RSW, MPA, for sharing her expertise, professional insights, and inspiring perspectives that greatly contributed to the learning and professional development of our Social Work students.

May this initiative continue to inspire future social workers to uphold compassion, competence, and dedication in serving communities.

Lakbay-Aral 2026: JPI Social Work Students’ Educational Tour

Alhamdulillah. The Social Work students of Jamiatul Philippine Al-Islamia (JPI) successfully conducted their Lakbay-Aral 2026 Educational Tour on April 4–6, 2026 in Cagayan de Oro City.

This meaningful academic activity was conducted under the guidance of their Social Work Chairperson, Esmail D. Amer, RSW, LPT, MPA, MAED together with Sir Mohammad Panambolan, RSW, and Guidance Counselor Maam Mohanisa H. Macute, RPm who accompanied the students throughout the educational tour.

The Lakbay-Aral provided the students with valuable experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom, enabling them to observe and appreciate various social service institutions, community programs, and professional practices related to the field of Social Work. Through this activity, the students were able to strengthen their practical knowledge, broaden their perspectives, and deepen their commitment to serving communities with compassion and professionalism.

Indeed, this exposure allowed the students to connect theoretical learning with real-world applications—an important step in preparing them to become competent, ethical, and socially responsible future Social Workers.
