Beta Nu Sigma History V1102
The Breed of Nouveau Society was founded on February 18, 2003 at the main campus of Mindanao State University at Marawi City. With a month remaining to close the academic year 2002-2003, the Three (3) Founding Fathers, Earl Jerome ‘Bads’ Lomoljo, Neil Brenzton ‘Nads’ Dayan and Louie James ‘Sol’ Bendanillo still managed to accept the three batches of pioneering members
that would be called the Supreme18 on March 21-22, 2003 at Bucana Beach, Fuentes, Iligan City. With the presence of their Founding Adviser, Nads Lady Jean ‘Daday’ Ramos, who passionately supported the society when asked at the very birthplace of Nouveaus at 6th Street, MSU-Marawi, the acceptance party of the eighteen pioneering members went firmly successful. To start the year with a more functional and cooperative organization, the first ever Nouveaus’ election was conducted. On a rainy day of June 28, 2003 about 3 o’clock in the afternoon, at the bleacher of MSU-Grandstand, the first set of chapter level officers was elected with Bads Junerey N. Lomoljo as Mayor (although the Alpha Chapter was planned to be recognized the time her pioneering members will be accepted). To have the society known and legal in the university, an application to the Association of Registered Campus Student Organization (ARCSO) that is under the guidance of the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) was submitted. After passing all the requirements, the Beta Nu Sigma Fraternity and Sorority was recognized and allowed to undertake activities as mandated by its constitution and by-laws. Not long after, the society was able to register at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with the name Beta Nu Sigma Fraternity and Sorority, Inc. Classified as a non-stock alumni association with SEC Registration No. CN200340010. These two local & national registrations enhanced greatly the reputation of the society that helped encourage aspirants to join that leads to another successful acceptance of the fourteen (14) Alpha Chapter Pioneers on August 30-31, 2003. The Beta Nu Sigma started administratively (or as per position, that is per level of a chapter, province and national) in line with its constitution and by-laws because they posted all main position as Chapter Mayor, Provincial Governor and National President but functionally worked mainly as a single chapter, the Alpha Chapter at Mindanao State University at Marawi City. Approaching was the 1st Foundation Anniversary where Nads Daday was off the campus so the society had a call for a chapter adviser. The young Nouveaus had no hard time getting the support of Ms. Yasmin S. Mikunug, a senior staff of MSU-College of Agriculture. She graced the celebration themed “NOUVEAUS: Setting a New Beginning” at Linsu Galleri, Commercial Center, MSU. The Bads and Sol Song and the He’ll Bless Beta Nu Sigma, composed by Nads James on August 3, 2003, were first sung during this event. This was also the time that the society was able to come up with a full national structure with the election within the provincial and national levels. The Alpha Chapter became a maiden chapter until the summer of 2005 when its Mayor, Bads Ritche M. Damasin, organized the Beta Chapter at his hometown, Calamba, Misamis Occidental. It was soon followed by Gamma Chapter in December 2005. The organizers were also from Alpha Chapter and organized at their hometown Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur. The birth of these chapters shaped the organizational structure where the national level was filled with all alumni with base office in Metro Manila, the provincial level was officially split into three (Luzon-Inactive, Visayas-Inactive, Mindanao-3chapters), and the chapter level was in full, functional, officer-filled status. Each chapter bloomed in membership and maintained regular activities all year round of 2006. After Nads Ritche’s term as Mayor of Alpha Chapter AY 2005-2006, he was appointed to be the Mindanao Province Governor. In the absence of the national officers in the region, he spearheaded the society and was able to arrange the celebration of the 4th foundation anniversary at Villa Consuelo, Ozamis City where he was named as the 1st Nouveau of the Year (2006) awardee. This gives the momentum for the officers and members of Gamma Chapter to materialize the organization of the Delta Chapter at Pagadian City on March 11, 2007 with five all-female pioneers. The growth and academic graduation of members thrust the National Officers to come up with the registration of the Nouveaus Alumni Association, Inc. (NAAI) to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The NAAI was incorporated on November 7, 2007 with Registration No. CN200717355. Nads Louie James T. Bendanillo,RCE serves as President, Nads Neil Brenzton B. Dayan,AE as Vice-President, Nads Earl Jerome N. Lomoljo,EE as Secretary, Nads Junerey N. Lomoljo,CPA as Treasurer and Nads Van Japheth M. Ancla,CPA as Auditor. Nads Ritche pushed the recognition of Ozamis (with Misamis University as the Institution) as the Epsilon Chapter due to the big number of Nouveaus there but was denied by the national office for the reasons of group’s tradition and procedure. But determination and leadership prevailed. Just right after the conclusion of the 1st National Convention on May 10-11, 2008 at Magnaye Beach Resort, Naawan, Misamis Oriental, he catches the support of Bads Abudhar Abduljalil, Bads Nur-Alden Manombilao, Bads Amer Manombilao, Bads Jabbar Mauyag and Bads Hamdi Usodan to organize the Epsilon Chapter at downtown Marawi City. It brings the situation where the whole Alpha Chapter members accepted the pioneers in the celebration of MSU Foundation Day on September 1, 2008. On December 19, 2008, a General Meeting was called by Governor Ritche, who was then connected to MSU-College of Agriculture, to discuss plans for Christmas vacation. An opportunity for chapter organization for Nouveaus will be going to their places. Developed leadership and teamwork produced three chapters in a span of three days! The Zeta Chapter was organized by Bads Guillermo V. Capangpangan Jr. (Alpha Chapter, Mayor AY 2008-2009) and the Sayson Brothers, Bads James Ceasar & Bads Val Christian at their hometown Molave, Zamboanga del Sur on January 2, 2009. Theta Chapter was organized by Bads Wilson R. Favor Jr. (Alpha Chapter) and Sol Christa May S. Deguma (Alpha Chapter) together with Nads Jingle M. Intong (Beta Chapter), who was already in Butuan City as a working professional, on January 4, 2009. Same day, January 4, 2009, the Kappa Chapter was organized by Bads Francis N. Juance (Alpha Chapter) at the campus of Central Mindanao University in Musuan, Maramag, Bukidnon. In the event of the society’s 6th Foundation Anniversary, the organizational structure was transformed to address the growing number of chapters. An amendment issued by the national office added two national level positions of Governor General and Secretary General which elevate Nads Ritche and Nads Abudhar respectively to the seats. The Mindanao was dissolved into seven Provinces namely Lanao, Misamis, Zamboanga, Agusan, Surigao, Davao and Cotabato. That celebration was augmented by the Provincial Assembly 2009 to formally open the active provinces; thus the event of 1st Agusan Provincial Assembly at Butuan City, 1st Lanao Provincial Assembly at MSU-Marawi, 1st Zamboanga Provincial Assembly at Molave, Zamboanga del Sur & 1st Misamis Provincial Assembly at Calamba, Misamis Occidental was held on April 11-14, 2009. Another great milestone of the organization is the creation of the Circle of Extraordinary Nouveaus, OXN. This is an induction that occurs only during foundation anniversary. The first inductee was Nads Ritche M. Damasin, OXN during the 6th foundation anniversary.
2009 was really one of the great years of Beta Nu Sigma as it adds two more chapters before the year ends. The Lambda Chapter was organized on April 19, 2009 at Dapa, Surigao del Norte, home place of Nouveaus’ Original Sol and Founding President, Nads Engr. Louie James Bendanillo. The acceptance of Lambda Pioneers took place at Arenas Blancas Beach Resort with Nads Wilson R. Favor, Jr. (also Theta Chapter Organizer) as co-organizer of Nads James. The Omicron Chapter was organized on October 25, 2009 at Cebu City (first chapter outside Mindanao) by Nads Emeliano L. Magdugo II (former Alpha Chapter Mayor, former Beta Chapter Mayor) and Nads Revo C. Condolon (Lambda Chapter Pioneer and Lambda Chapter Mayor 2009-2010). The 2nd National Convention was held on March 5-7, 2010 at Nouveaus’ Park, Mindanao State University, Marawi City with Alpha Chapter as host. The event was marked with memories as the organization again gives its signature move of recognizing member’s for their contributions to the group. The RMD Award was first given to members for the loyalty and service. The recipients were Nads Wilson Favor, Jr, Bads Jerico Arceno, Bads Raffy Guntalilib, Bads Gegejosper Ceniza, Bads Glen Roy Melgo, Bads Michael Ceniza, Bads Rainier Amorganda & Bads Ramer Mejares.
