Isang panawagan ang dinadala ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan ng UP Visayas: We demand for a pro-student and pro-people UPV Chancellor!

Sa nalalapit na pagpili ng susunod na Tsanselor ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Visayas, nararapat na kilatisin natin ang mga nominado kung paano nila paglilingkuran ang Pamantasan ng Sambayanan.

Inihahandog ng UP Visayas University Student Council kasama nang All-UP Academic Employees' Union- Iloilo Chapter ang isang espasyo upang harapin ng mga nominado ang mga oanawagan ng mga estudyante at pangkalahatan na komunidad ng UPV.

Inaanyayahan ang lahat ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan mula UPV Miagao campus hanggang UPV Iloilo City campus, kasama ang mga kaguruan, kawaning REPS at administratibo, alumni, at hanggang sa UP Board of Regents na dumalo at magpadalo sa TAPATAN with Nominees for the UPV Chancellorship ngayong darating na ika-14 ng Setyembre, 2026, ala-una ng hapon sa CFOS AV Hall.

| PUBLIC FORUM OF JOEFE B. SANTARITA, PhD

The UP Visayas University Student Council formally receives the Notice of Alternative Class for the Public Forum of Joefe B. Santarita, PhD, from the 2026 UPV Search Committee for the Chancellor of UP Visayas.

When: September 09, 2026 | 1:00–4:00 PM
Where: UPV Iloilo City Campus (UPV Auditorium)

All Iskolars ng Bayan are encouraged to attend the public forum, which has been APPROVED as an ALTERNATIVE CLASS (subject to the approval of the faculty-in-charge).

The 2026 UPV Search Committee for the Chancellor of UP Visayas has provided one bus for students and other constitue who will attend the forum.

To help us estimate the number of students who will avail of the free transportation service, please coordinate with your respective Local College Councils (LCCs).

| 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗲

As of September 4, 2026, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) has recorded "𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗨𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆" air quality levels across Iloilo City. Meanwhile, Miagao is also experiencing 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗲, with haze conditions affecting visibility and raising concerns over exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5).

The haze, reportedly carried by southwest monsoon winds from ongoing widespread forest and land fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia is currently affecting parts of WesternVisayas. This atmospheric condition severely reduces outdoor visibility and poses elevated health risks.

Members of the UPV Community in both the Iloilo City and Miagao campuses are advised to take necessary precautions and limit unnecessary outdoor exposure.

𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀::
• Eye discomfort or irritation
• Coughing/Throat Irritation
• Difficulty in Breathing/Chest discomfort

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀:
• Worsening of asthma and other respiratory conditions
• Lung inflammation
• Increased risk of cardiovascular problems, including a heart attack and stroke

Students, faculty, staff, and residents with asthma, bronchitis, cardiovascular conditions, or other respiratory illnesses must take extra caution.

𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗠𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗦
Limit Outdoor Activities
• Avoid prolonged outdoor activities, especially when haze is visibly present

Wear Protective Mask
• When going outside during hazy conditions, always wear a protective mask. According to the NDRRMC Haze Alert, a N95 mask or its equivalent is most recommended. Other alternatives include doubling an ordinary or surgical face mask

Keep Windows and Doors Closed
• As much as possible, keep windows and doors closed to prevent outdoor polluted air from entering

Stay Hydrated
• Drink sufficient water and monitor symptoms of respiratory discomfort

Drive with Extra Caution
• Haze may reduce visibility, particularly along the Iloilo-Antique Highway. Motorists are advised to slow down, use appropriate vehicle lights, maintain a safe following distance, and remain alert

Stay Informed
• Monitor and stay updated on official advisories and air-quality information from sources like PAGASA, DENR-EMB, Department of Health, and local disaster risk reduction and management offices

| Change of Venue for the 1st General Assembly of All Student Leaders

The 1st General Assembly of All Student Leaders, also known as the All Leaders’ Meeting (ALM), with UPV organizations and formations will be held at the CFOS AV Hall. The Council will present and discuss matters concerning the student body and work together on campaigns both inside and outside the University.

All student organization and formation heads, or anyone interested are highly encouraged to attend or send at least 1-2 representatives in-person for the said assembly or attend via Google Meet link provided in the invitation. Below are the details of the meeting:

Nakikiisa ang mga Iskolar ng Bayan ng UP Visayas sa naganap na ika-1411 Board of Regents Meeting na tutulan ang P2.95 Bilyong kaltas sa pondo ng UP!

Nakihanay at bitbit ang isang panawagan dito sa UP Visayas, mula UPV Miagao Campus hanggang sa UPV Iloilo City Campus, na tutulan ang budget cut at irehistro ang panawagan para sa sapat at mas mataas na badyet sa UP System.

Direktang hinahamon din ng lahat ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan ang ating mga nominado sa - incumbent Chancellor Camposano at Propesor Santarita, na bitbitin ang panawagan ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan ng UP Visayas na mag-request ng mas mataas na budget ng ating constituent unit na direktang kailangan sa pagpapatakbo ng ating unibersidad.

Malinaw ang punto ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan mula sa UPV Miagao campus hanggang UPV Iloilo City campus at ng mga kabataan ng Kanlurang Visayas- ipaglaban ang karapatan para sa isang libre, aksesible, at de-kalidad na makamasang edukasyon!

BUDGET SA EDUKASYON, HINDI SA KORAPSYON AT MILITARISASYON! DEFEND UP!

Totoo nga ba na priority ng administrasyong Marcos ang sektor ng edukasyon? Kung totoo na prayoridad nila ito, dapat hindi kinaltasan ng PHP 2.95 B ang UP System at PHP 3.34 B ang kabuuan ng mga SUCs.

Sa kabilang banda, mas tumaas ang budget allocation sa mga maanomalyang flood control projects at ng pasistang AFP at PNP na siyang patunay sa “totoong prayoridad” ng administrasyong Marcos sa 2027 National Expenditure Program.

Ang laban ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan ng UP Visayas at ng UP System ay laban para sa mas mataas na badget sa edukasyon. Kaya tinatawagan natin ang lahat ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan na sumama sa ating system-wide rally at kapit-bisig natin na bitbitin ang sapat na pondo para sa isang totoong libre at dekalidad na edukasyon.

Direkta din natin na panawagan sa ating mga nominees para sa na samahan ang ating mga Iskolar ng Bayan at i-rehistro hanggang sa Board of Regents ang sapat na budget proposal para sa Personnel Services, Capital Outlay, at MOOE, na direktang kailangan sa pagpapatakbo ng ating unibersidad.

Kaya mga Iskolar ng bayan, sumama na sa hanay at sabay-sabay nating dalhin ang ating panawagan sa UP Board of Regents: Budget cut sa pamantasan, huwag pahintulutan!
