The humble beginning of the Marianum College was conceived by Rev. Rhett Ma. Sarabia, OSM, when he proposed that the studies of Philosophy for the pre-novices should be done inside the St. Mary of the Servants Formation House. This was due to the difficult experience of the seminarians in going to Letran College where they studied their philosophy. The construction of skyway at that time rendered
heavy and terrible traffics that forced the seminarians to wake up very early in order to reach the school on time and the same situation caused them to arrive home late. This gave rise to the decision to have the philosophy studies inside the formation house. The said proposal was approved by the Delegation Council in 1998. Sarabia negotiated with the Laguna Northwestern College in San Pedro, Laguna to affiliate the planned Philosophy course inside the formation house. In June 1999 the seminarians started their philosophy studies inside St. The exigency to have proper classrooms for the students of philosophy propelled the idea of constructing a building adjacent to the St. Mary of Servant Formation House. The Provincial Council of Piedmont-Romagna Province in 2000 approved the submitted proposal of the Philippine Delegation Council for the construction of St. Alexis Center of Studies Building. On August 31, 2001 the building was finally turned over by the ACCE Builders to the Order of the Servants of Mary. On May 28, 2002 the St. Alexis Center of Studies was inaugurated and blessed by Fr. Sarabia, OSM himself. It formally started its classes on June 13, 2002. The religious studies course was simultaneously offered in that year. Much later, in 2012 an ecclesiastical course of Marian Studies which Fr. Dominador Ma. Javier, OSM had revitalized at the St. Peregrine Laziosi Formation Community was integrated as one of the programs in this school. The foundation of St. Alexis Center of Studies gave the friars, both in the Philippines and in other parts of the world, particularly the friars of Piedmont-Romagna Province, hope for growth for the newly born Philippine Delegation. It provided an avenue for the Filipino friars to venture into a new apostolate in education. Finally, the foundation of St. Alexis Center of Studies gave life and hope for the Philippine Delegation to become self-sufficient. In 2012 the new composition of School Administrative Board proposed to the Vicarial Council and to the General Assembly which was held in October 2012 to incorporate SACS into an educational corporation which would have separate and distinct entity from the Servants of Mary Fathers, Inc. Through this, SACS could ask permit from Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for degree programs particularly Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and the Department of Education (DepEd) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for other programs. Thus, no longer affiliated with the Laguna Northwestern College, it operates as a school on its own. Hence, the conception of its name Marianum College after the distinguished Servite Theological school in Rome, Italy Pontificio Instituto Theologico “Marianum”. Such proposal was approved by the General Assembly and the Vicarial Council. On May 31, 2013, the application for incorporation was given recognition/approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission and thus born the MARIANUM COLLEGE, INC.
