The Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges โ Extension and Community Services Office (CSPC-ECSO) successfully conducted LICHA-HABI โ Livelihood Innovation and Creative Habi Advancement for Better Industries (Enhancement Program for Trainers Training) from September 22โ28, 2026 at Magindara, Buhi, Camarines Sur.
The activity provided the weaving community of Buhi with opportunities to enhance their designs, techniques, and creative approaches, while paving the way toward developing a distinct trademark and identity that they can proudly call their own as Buhinon weavers and proud Bicolanos. More than preserving a traditional craft, LICHA-HABI promotes innovation, cultural pride, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for the community.
The successful implementation of the activity was made possible through the full support of SUC President III Dr. Amado A. Oliva Jr.; VPRIC Dr. Challiz D. Omorog; Extension Director Ms. Daisylen D. Alano; Graduate School Extension Coordinator Dr. Eden Q. Paniterce; and the dedicated ECSO staff.
The program was further strengthened through the partnership between CSPC and the LGU Buhi, under the leadership of Hon. Rey P. Lacoste, Municipal Mayor, demonstrating the value of collaborative efforts in bringing meaningful and sustainable development closer to the community.
CSPC extends its sincere appreciation to the trainers led by Mr. Marlon M. Martin, together with Mr. Marcelino L. Bumilac, Ms. Andrea Q. Aswigue, and Ms. Jennilyn B. Olnanigon, for generously sharing their expertise and time. Likewise, special appreciation is given to the dedicated weavers of Buhi, headed by Ms. Clarita C. Noble, whose enthusiasm and willingness to learn made the activity truly meaningful.
Through LICHA-HABI, CSPC continues to fulfill its mandate of serving communities through responsive and sustainable extension initiativesโhelping preserve local heritage, strengthen livelihoods, and improve the lives of the communities it serves.
From tradition to innovation, LICHA-HABI weaves not only products, but also identity, pride, and a sustainable future for the Buhinon weaving community.
