PalawanSU Roxas donates school supplies to Abaroan ES and Tagumpay ES.

The first week of November left an unfortunate memory to Roxas Palawan especially in the southern part where Typhoon Tino devastated many establishments including houses and school buildings. Many were affected including pupils in the elementary schools whose learning were interrupted not only because of the heavy rain but also because of the flood that swept away their learning materials and school supplies.

As part of the university’s mission to provide services to the people in need, Roxas Campus made an initiative to conduct school supplies donation drive. The generous faculty and staff members donated cash to purchase school supplies and materials that were given to most affected pupils of Abaroan ES and Tagumpay ES.

Last November 12, 2025, the faculty and staff members from PalawanSU Roxas Campus, led by Oriental Cluster Dean Dr. Anabel A. Gacayan and Campus Director Dr. Flornita N. Ferrer, went to Abaroan Elementary School to personally donate the school supplies to one hundred forty (140) pupils. Furthermore, the donated school supplies for the pupils in Tagumpay Elementary School were received by their School Principal Sir Panchito D. Sibugan, Head Teacher I, and will be distributed when classes resume in the said school.

The campus officials, faculty, and staff would like to extend their gratitude for the warm welcome and accommodation of Abaroan Elementary School headed by Ma’am Ma. Florecel S. Magbanua, Principal II, and from Tagumpay Elementary School headed by Sir Panchito D. Sibugan, Head Teacher I, together with their respective faculty and staff. Special thanks to Ma'am Sharon Granada and Ma'am Rosalyn E. Padrones for the coordination.

"Magandang araw, MABUHAY!"

A greeting that depicts Filipino Brand of Service which aims to perpetuate Filipino hospitality excellence.

Through the university's mission to uplift the quality of life of the people, dedicated faculty members of PalawanSU Oriental Cluster, particularly Roxas and San Vicente Campus, entered into a partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement with the Municipality of San Vicente, specifically the Office of Municipal Tourism. The collaboration of the campuses and the LGU of San Vicente paved the way to conduct an extension program entitled "Intervention Program for Hospitality Professionals in San Vicente, Palawan: Tourism Promotion Services" that aims to assist hotel and other accommodation owners, managers, and even staff members to adapt to the current needs of the tourist or guests. Furthermore, the program aims to help improve the professionals' skills in providing service to their clientele.

The extension program was based on the research conducted by Dr. Ma. Christine A. Guzman, Geraldine P. Jaud, and Ryan D. Tan, faculty of PalawanSU Roxas Campus, with the title "Impacts and Recovery Strategies Amidst CoViD-19 Pandemic: The Case of Hospitality Industry in Northern Palawan ( El Nido and San Vicente)" with the aim to help achieve SDG 8, 9, and 11.

The kickoff program was conducted last October 17, 2024, held at PalawanSU San Vicente Gymnasium. Various participants from different hotel and tourism industries, and students attended the program. Dr. Guzman, the Project Leader, spearheaded the implementation of the activity while other faculty members from both campuses helped facilitate the event. The second and last session of the activity was conducted on November 7 & 8, 2024, held at Palmera Garden Inn, San Vicente, Palawan. The second session started with some greetings and messages and was followed by the assessment of the skills of the participants. Sir Sisor, together with the participants conducted simulations, and demonstrations, to evaluate their skills about their training last time. Moreover, Sir Sisor conducted Oral Interviews with the participants, and he also did some mentoring on how to further improve their service to the guests.

The third and last session started with the talk of Maam Aires A. Fulgarinas about "Customer Service".It was followed by the talk of Maam Gilda Jo-an G. Bandin about "Basic Communication Skills". In the afternoon, the activity continued with the talk of Sir Julius J. Javier Jr. who discussed about "Financial Literacy". Lastly, Prof. Ana N.
