The Mountain Province State University (MPSU) - Paracelis successfully conducted a comprehensive one-day seminar focusing on Youth Safety, Mental Wellness, and Gender and Development (GAD) Responsive Coping. This crucial initiative underscores the university's commitment to holistic student development and community engagement, at the Conference Hall, today, December 12, 2025.
The seminar was a testament to the power of inter-agency collaboration, executed in partnership with Municipal Population Office (MPO) Municipal Youth Development Office (MYDO) and the Philippine National Police, Paracelis Municipal Station.
The seminar commenced with a vital session dedicated to security and community awareness, spearheaded by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PSSg Jameson C. Paquito served as the lead resource speaker for the safety segment. PSSg Paquito strongly highlighted the significance of being vigilant and practicing keen environmental awareness as the first line of defense against potential threats.
Following the safety discussion, the focus shifted inward to psychological resilience and stress management, led by an expert on wellness. Ms. Olivia Pinatang-Mangsat emphasized that being a student is not easy, particularly when managing multiple projects and deadlines. She stressed that effectively managing stressors is key to minimizing their negative effects on performance and overall well-being.
The afternoon session pivoted to the legal and social framework protecting individuals, particularly women and children, integrating the Gender and Development (GAD) component of the seminar.
PEMS Dolores C. Gao-an, delivered an insightful topic on Republic Act No. 9262. PEMS Gao-an emphasized the importance of understanding and addressing Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC). She stressed that VAWC is a serious issue affecting many individuals, particularly women and children, and urged everyone to take action.
