𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡 | 𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗢𝗗𝗘𝗦 𝗦𝗘𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗬 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗨𝗚𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝟭𝟵

Alternative learning modes and learning continuity measures will be implemented at all levels in public and private schools in Pasay City tomorrow, August 19, 2026, pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 129 covering the National Capital Region (NCR).

The directive was issued in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which may pose risks of localized flooding and travel hazards.

Government offices in Pasay City are likewise directed to adapt alternative work arrangements, while agencies providing essential and vital services shall continue operations.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗧𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

The City University of Pasay (CUP), through the Central Student Council (CSC), Student Government Organizations (SGOs), and Ang Salimbay, participated in the Pasay Teen Convention 2026 organized by the Pasay City Health Office – Adolescent Health and Development Program (AHDP) on August 14, 2026, at The Heritage Hotel Manila, Pasay City. The convention carried the theme, “Empowering Young Key Populations through Reproductive Health, Rights Awareness, and Youth-Friendly City Services.”

The program opened with an overview from City Health Officer III Dr. Tiong Eng Roland D. Tan, followed by messages of support from Pasay City Mayor Hon. Imelda “Emi” Calixto-Rubiano and Councilor and Committee on Education Chairperson Hon. Luigi Calixto Rubiano, represented by former Councilor and former Committee on Health Chairperson Joey Calixto Isidro Jr. The gathering also extended birthday greetings to Mayor Emi as she celebrates her birth month this August.

The morning sessions featured discussions on “First Responders: Stop the Bleed” by Dr. Esther A. Saguil, “Mental Health and Self-Worth” by Dr. Liecel Trinidad Fulgencio, and “Wellness: Where Body Meets the Mind,” led by a Pocari Sweat representative. After lunch and exhibit visits, participants joined a Zumba session before the afternoon program.

The afternoon continued with the lecture and panel session. Dr. Noel Saguil discussed “Ano ang Pwede Mong Maging Bukas?” on biodiversity, while Mr. Alvin Caril tackled “Sino Ka Ngayon: Reviving the Art of Taxonomy and Lighting the Next Generation of Stewards.” Dr. Analette Guinto Narral concluded the session with her talk on “From Nature to the Laboratory: STEM Innovations in Medicine.”

The convention ended the day with exhibit visits, the advocacy wall activity, booth engagements, and a closing program, bringing together discussions and activities that encouraged young participants to take an active role in their health, communities, and future.

The Pasay City Government has suspended face-to-face classes in all levels across public and private schools tomorrow, August 18, 2026, following the recommendation of the Pasay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PCDRRMO) amid continuous rainfall brought by a Low Pressure Area (LPA).

Schools are directed to implement alternative learning modalities based on their respective capacities.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗦𝗚𝗢𝘀 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗖 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚

The City University of Pasay (CUP) Student Government Organizations (SGOs) conducted the SGO: Future Thinking, Future Planning on August 11, 2026, from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., at the CUP Student Activity Center, Room 407.

The program began with opening remarks delivered by Central Student Council (CSC) President Ms. Daniella Isabella D. Dionio. Following her remarks, CSC Adviser Prof. Cleofe T. Castor, LPT, MAEd, delivered a message of support for the successful conduct of the program. Meanwhile, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, Admissions, and Scholarships (OSAAS) Prof. Kenneth Nyl C. Oresco, LPT, RGC, facilitated the use of the designated room for the workshop and planning activities.

Keynote speaker Mr. Justine Jann B. Reyes, LPT, OSA Coordinator of Arellano University – Apolinario Mabini Campus, discussed 21st-century skills and the key challenges faced by student leaders. Following Reyes’ discussion, Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration (CBA) Dr. Ledovino A. Macayan, CPA, discussed financial strategies designed to equip student leaders with knowledge and skills in budget management.

University President Dr. Rosanie F. Estuche, LPT, delivered an inspirational message to the student leaders. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-appointed CSC officers, including President Ms. Dionio, Vice President for Internal Affairs Mr. Jemrick D. Sabuero, and College of Education (COED) Representative Ms. Donna E. Morales.

The strategic planning activity aimed to equip student leaders with essential leadership, financial management, and future-oriented skills while providing them with an opportunity to develop strategies and plans that will contribute to the continued improvement of student governance and organizations at CUP.

With the theme, “Strengthening Academic Excellence through Good Governance, Quality Assurance, and Institutional Accountability,” the program aims to help professors gain more awareness and knowledge through meaningful discussions and interactive activities about teaching and campus life.
