AIVREN Writers Break Borders, Claim 2nd in RISTEK Global Essay Competition

Their words crossed borders as AIVREN Writers of Capiz State University clinched 2nd Place in the RISTEK Global Essay Competition, an international competition hosted by Universitas Pekalongan, Indonesia.

Composed of Renzy Myer D. Bulahan, Editor-in-Chief of CAPSU FORUM, and Associate Editors Ma. Crystal Ivory Dapat and Angel B. Roa, the team presented their essay, “The New Clark City Blueprint: Balancing Semiconductor Ambitions with Ecological Realities,” under the Environment subtheme, tackling pressing environmental concerns through research-driven and persuasive writing.

The team also secured a Gold Award in the Environment subtheme, highlighting the strength and relevance of their work among international competitors.

The achievement was made possible with the full support of the External Affairs and Linkages Office of Capiz State University–Pontevedra Campus, whose support helped bring the team's ideas beyond the local stage and into the international arena.

From Capiz to Indonesia, AIVREN Writers proved that student voices can cross borders, spark conversations, and make an impact on the global stage.

IN PHOTOS | New and transferee students from the College of Education, Arts and Sciences (COEAS) and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) took their first steps into college life through the First-Year Thorough Orientation, spearheaded by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) under the leadership of SAS Chair Dr. Aleta Rose Onglatco.

The orientation brought students through the different offices under the Office of Student Affairs and Services, providing them with essential information on student services, campus resources, policies, programs, and opportunities available to support them throughout their college journey.

More than an introduction, the orientation served as a bridge for our new and transferee students to become familiar with the university community, understand the support systems available to them, and confidently begin this new chapter.

As they embark on their college journey, may they embrace new experiences, build meaningful friendships, overcome challenges, and seize every opportunity to grow into future professionals.

IN PHOTOS | CAPSU Officials Conducts Systemwide Readiness Assessment at Pontevedra Campus

Led by University President Dr. Efren L. Linan, officials of Capiz State University (CAPSU) visited the Pontevedra Campus on August 17 as part of the university’s annual Systemwide Pre-Opening Conference, aimed at assessing the readiness of its campuses for the academic year.

Joining the delegation were Dr. Annalie G. Campos, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Leo Andrew B. Biclar, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension; Dr. Salvacion J. Legaspi, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages; Atty. Toche Vic B. Doce, OIC Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Rossandrew B. Villaruel, Director for Quality Assurance; Ms. Fe Lynn L. Linan, Executive Assistant III; and Ms. Sally C. Biclar, Private Secretary.

The university officials were warmly welcomed by Pontevedra Campus Administrator Dr. Honey Lee E. Casa, together with other campus officials and personnel.

The visit focused on evaluating the campus’s overall preparedness, including its academic, administrative, and operational arrangements, to ensure that necessary measures are in place for a smooth and efficient start of classes.

Through the systemwide assessment, CAPSU leadership reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe, responsive, and student-centered learning environment across its campuses.
