together with UP Arirang was invited to be part of the ARIH Launch Event at Glorietta Activity Center today! 🤩

This event celebrated the official release of ARIH, a food brand born from the collaboration between BTS and Paldo Vina, here in the Philippines. 🇰🇷🇵🇭

Numerous influencers and selected BTS ARMYs gathered for an exciting celebration filled with fun and interactive activities, including product-tasting experiences: tasting flavors such as Truffle Bulgogi, Black Pepper Tteokbokki and Soy Sauce Butter, a photobooth, and a tote bag personalization station.

We are happy to have participated in the sample tasting activities as part of their research and development activities prior to today's launching. Looking forward to more collaborations with Paldo Vina Philippines! 🎁 신제품 런칭을 진심으로 축하드립니다! 🎊😋🍜

🇰🇷👩‍💼🇵🇭 K-AREER TALK 2026

Last October 21, K-AREER TALK 2026 brought together three inspiring women to share their career journeys, the lessons they have learned along the way, and how their passion for Korea has shaped their paths as K-areer women.

Myra Charisse Olaso shared how her career path in casual gaming and technology unfolded through what she described as “coincidence,” how she adapted to Korean work culture, and how staying curious has helped her continue growing beyond her role.

Irish Sabunod reflected on how her childhood K-pop dreams influenced her career aspirations. From dreaming of working in the K-Pop industry to pursuing a career in copyright protection, she emphasized the importance of immersing oneself in new experiences and making use of every learning opportunity.

Chari Angel De Leon looked back on her journey from performing for her church to eventually volunteering in Malawi. Through the imagery of bonsai and koi fish, she shared a reminder of how meaningful growth takes patience and perseverance.

Thank you to our speakers and everyone who joined us! May their stories inspire aspiring K-areer people to stay curious and pave their own paths forward. 💙

K-AREER TALK 2026 was co-organized by the UP Department of Linguistics and the UP Korea Research Center (UP KRC). Snacks provided by Pop Mart Korean Grocery (Malate).

October 25 is DOKDO DAY 🪨🌊🇰🇷

The date of Dokdo Day comes from the fact that Emperor Gojong declared Dokdo Island as the attached island of Ulleungdo Island by Imperial Ordinance No. 41 on Oct. 25, 1900.

The Party for Tokdo Protection designated Dokdo Day in 2000 and various civic groups, such as the Korean Federation of Teachers’ Associations and The Dokdo Institute, proclaimed Dokdo Day in 2010. Although Dokdo Day is not counted as the national holiday, various commemorative events take place in different regions of Korea to inform the world that Dokdo Island is a part of the Korean territory.

Director Kyungmin Bae had an interview with the Financial News (Korea) about Korean language education and Korean Studies activities in the University of the Philippines. 🇰🇷🇵🇭

In the interview, Director Bae stated the motivations of Filipino students in studying the language show some changes from dominant personal interests into Korean popular culture to pursuit of cultural exchanges and postgraduate degrees in Korea, and working in Korean firms.

She emphasized the importance of training next generations by pointing out sustainable cycles of mentoring which will enable continuous expansion of qualified teaching staff and academics. Rather than relying on Korean or external assistance, creating an ecosystem where competent Filipino scholars contribute to knowledge sharing and localised materials production is one of the key factors to the Korean Studies in the Philippines.

What a lovely way to end a series of Korean cultural immersion this October! thank you our guest artist whimsbyfaye Faye Labiano for generously guiding our Korean language students step-by-step how to draw Korea-inspired images and how they could create their own button pins! 💕

In the introduction, Faye shared how her art journey has become her safe space and given a great sense of healing amidst dealing with jobs and daily struggles. She wished that participants could also find joy and healing from a simple drawing to seeing one's final product.

Thank you everyone from the UP Department of Linguistics for making this event happen! Our special thanks also go to four fantastic event assistants, Linguistics staffmembers Patricia & Jeff, BA Linguistics (2026) Harriet Malapit, and UP Arirang member Iah Delvo! All are equally artistic! 🇵🇭🇰🇷🌻

It was our first time to hold such a workshop but all are already suggesting another one! Looking forward to working with you once again Faye! We love your art and beautiful attitude in life! 의미 있는 워크숍을 만들어 줘서 정말 고마워요! 👏🎁
