How do LGBTQIA+ couples in the Philippines navigate love, family, property, and healthcare rights in a legal system that still does not formally recognize same-sex partnerships?

Join “Rights of LGBTQIA+ Couples in the Philippine Legal Framework: Book Launch and Legal Toolkit Distribution,” one of the featured events of the 2026 Philippine Q***r Studies Conference. 📚⚖️

Hosted by the UP College of Law Gender Law and Policy Program, this session marks the pre-launch of a new monograph and companion legal toolkit designed to help LGBTQIA+ couples better understand and secure rights related to property, healthcare, and family matters.

The program will also bring together legal experts, academics, and community members for an important conversation on legal gaps, the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ families, and the ongoing struggle for equality and reform.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️Join us as we open the 2026 Philippine Q***r Studies Conference with a dialogue that holds space for rigor and tenderness, friction and flow, and the many ways we move together.

“Face-to-Face, Heart-to-Heart: Conversation on Mobilities, Methodologies, and Movements” brings together two voices from different generations of q***r work and thought to reflect on protest, care, joy, fatigue, resistance, and repair. Together, they will explore how movements are shaped not only through strategy and critique, but also through relationships, lived experience, and the everyday work of surviving and imagining otherwise.

See you at the 2026 PQSC!

📸 For the first time, the Philippine Q***r Studies Conference will feature a photo exhibit: “Memories of Movements.”

This photography exhibit gathers images of q***r life, organizing, survival, care, and connection across the Philippines. From Pride marches and protests to friendships, chosen family, and everyday acts of resistance, the exhibit honors the many ways q***r histories are lived, remembered, and shared.

This exhibit is curated by Prof. Eloi Hernandez of the UP Department of Art Studies.

Visit the exhibit from 24 to 26 April 2026 at the Lobby of the UP School of Statistics, with the exhibit launch happening on 24 April 2026 at 3:00 PM. RSVP via bit.ly/MemoriesOfMovementsRSVP
