As part of the Student Immersion Program, students from the Philippine Science High School System spent the week discovering different areas of the pharmacy profession through hands-on laboratory activities and practical applications.
The immersion began with the extraction of ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ข (๐ฝ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐) and its ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, where students explored the science behind medicinal plants under the guidance of ๐ ๐. ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐. ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ผ๐น๐ฎ, ๐ฅ๐ฃ๐ต. Through two days of experimentation, they gained a deeper appreciation for pharmaceutical research and the process of identifying bioactive compounds from natural sources.
On the third day, the students shifted from research to formulation as ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ผ ๐. ๐๐ฎ๐น๐บ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ผ, ๐ฅ๐ฃ๐ต, ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐บ introduced them to the preparation of ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ and ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐. The activity highlighted the diverse applications of pharmacy, showcasing how science is transformed into products that promote both health and well-being.
Beyond the laboratory, the immersion was made even more meaningful through the support of our dedicated student volunteers, who assisted the professors and guided the students throughout each activity. Their efforts helped create a safe, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment for everyone involved.
As the first week comes to a close, we hope this experience has inspired our visiting students to continue exploring the endless possibilities within healthcare, research, and pharmaceutical sciences. ๐
