The UP Asian Center joins the Filipino people in mourning the passing of National Artist for Literature Resil B. Mojares.

We remember Professor Mojares not only for his remarkable contributions to Philippine history and literature, but also for the enduring influence of his scholarship on the study of the Philippines and Asia. His work and ideas will continue to inspire generations of scholars and readers.

As we honor his life and legacy, we share one of his contributions to the Asian Studies Journal, “The Emergence of Asian Intellectuals” (2013), as part of our remembrance.
