The Philippine Eagle is found nowhere else on Earth. But protecting our national bird may take more than what we can do alone.

In October 2026, a delegation led by the DENR with the Philippine Eagle Foundation visited the Czech Republic to explore new ways to protect this critically endangered species.

From improving eagle breeding programs to preventing deadly power line accidents, the mission explored how sharing knowledge, science, and expertise across borders could help save the Philippine Eagle.

🌍 What can we learn from the other side of the world to give our national bird a fighting chance?

Discover the mission, the new opportunities, and how global cooperation could help secure the Philippine Eagle’s future.

The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) celebrates a groundbreaking research collaboration with the UP Philippine Genome Center (UP PGC), advancing our understanding of the genetic makeup of our critically endangered national bird.

At the October 2, 2026 gathering at UP Diliman, Dr. Jayson Ibanez, PEF Director for Operations, represented the Foundation in celebrating this scientific milestone.

🔬 Whole-genome study: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12864-026-12859-9

Together, these findings can help inform conservation breeding and protect the genetic diversity essential to the species’ survival.
