l 𝗟𝗦𝗣𝗨 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) has once again secured a place in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, improving its overall standing from the previous year, June 24.

The THE Impact Rankings is a global assessment that measures universities' contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.

In its second year of participation, LSPU advanced to the 1001–1500 overall ranking band in 2026, up from its 2025 placement in the 1501+ bracket. The University also earned recognition in five SDG categories:

• SDG 5: Gender Equality – 401–600
• SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions – 401–600
• SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – 801–1000
• SDG 4: Quality Education – 1001+
• SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – 1001–1500

LSPU is among the 1,603 higher education institutions worldwide included in this year’s THE Impact Rankings.

Representing the University, under the leadership of University President Dr. Mario R. Briones, Prof. Nimfa Dimaculangan, Director for International Affairs, personally received the recognition during the awarding ceremony held as part of the THE Global Sustainable Development Congress in Jakarta, Indonesia, from June 22 to 25, 2026.

This achievement reflects the collective dedication and sustained efforts of LSPU’s students, faculty, staff, and administrators in advancing sustainable development and strengthening the University's vision of becoming a leading, sustainable ASEAN Polytechnic University.

The recognition further affirms LSPU’s growing impact on the global stage and its commitment to fostering inclusive, innovative, and sustainable communities through excellence in education, research, and public service.

Focus: SDG 2 (Zero Hunger)

𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵, 𝗡𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 🐟❄️

Did you know that over 35% of the world's fish production is lost or wasted every year? In the race against tropical heat and rapid spoilage, your favorite seafood is often at risk before it even reaches the dinner table.

In support of SDG 2: Zero Hunger, we are spotlighting crucial research conducted at the Lucena Fish Port Complex (LFPC) in Quezon Province. This study explores the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) of the people behind our seafood supply chain to find ways to reduce these “postharvest losses.”

What the Research Found at the Port:

• 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙖𝙥. A staggering 91% of stakeholders surveyed had never attended formal training on postharvest handling, highlighting a massive opportunity for community education.

• 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙫𝙨. 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. While processors were found to have the highest technical knowledge, fisherfolk showed the strongest positive attitudes toward reducing waste because they know it directly protects their income.

• 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝘿𝙮𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙨. The study noted that males were more likely to follow recommended handling methods, suggesting a need for more gender-responsive training for women vendors and processors.

• 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨. Those who handle larger volumes of fish daily tend to have better knowledge and practices, as they deal with the economic risks of spoilage every single day.

Reducing these losses isn't just about saving fish; it's about boosting income for local families and ensuring that nutritious, affordable protein is available for every Filipino household.

𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 🎓🌍

Ever wonder if your student ID is actually a ticket to changing the world? It turns out, the support you receive on campus is doing much more than just helping you pass your exams: it’s shaping you into a global “agent of change.”

We are featuring this research on the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) programs and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which explores how university services at Laguna State Polytechnic University are aligning with the United Nations’ global goals.

The study reveals that OSAS isn’t just about administration; it’s a vital engine for sustainability. Here’s what the research found:

• 𝘼 "𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚" 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮. Students aren't just aware of the SDGs; they are ready to contribute! The study found that students are "knowledgeable" about the purpose and timeframe of these global goals.

• 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. There is a significant link between the services you use—like scholarships, health services, and student organizations—and how you practice sustainability in real life.

• 𝘿𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙨. From showing equal respect to everyone regardless of gender or age to prioritizing quality education in their personal lives, students are already "practicing" the behaviors needed for a better world.

• 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙮 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨. Programs like scholarships, financial assistance, and health services were rated as "Highly Available," proving that a strong support system is the foundation for student success.

Higher education institutions are crucial platforms for the SDGs. By integrating these goals into student life, universities are graduating leaders who are equipped to tackle climate change, inequality, and responsible consumption.

l 𝗣𝗥𝗖 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗦𝗣𝗨-𝗦𝗣𝗖𝗖 𝗕𝗦 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), through the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Accountancy, has recommended the issuance of a Certificate of Compliance for the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) program of Laguna State Polytechnic University–San Pablo City Campus (LSPU-SPCC) following their onsite inspection and monitoring visit, June 9.

According to the inspection and monitoring work program report, Hon. Maria Teresita Zuñiga-Dimaculangan, member of the PRB of Accountancy, found no deficiencies, non-compliances, or violations in the implementation of the program. The report concluded that the university is compliant with the requirements and may be issued the corresponding certification.

The inspection was led by Hon. Zuñiga-Dimaculangan and Divina C. Ramos, PRC representative, held at the LSPU-SPCC Conference Hall.
