𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆.

This National Heroes Day, we honor the immortal legacy of icons like 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗹 and 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼 who fought for our freedom. But we also lift up our mga makabagong bayani (modern-day heroes)—the 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀 whose grit, sweat, and tireless dedication keep our country moving forward.

From the factory floors and construction sites to the streets and office spaces, heroism lives in every drop of sweat shed for a better life and a stronger nation.

Mabuhay ang manggagawang Pilipino. Mabuhay ang ating mga bayani, noon at ngayon! ❤️

𝐏𝐚𝐠-𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐢 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐨 "𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐲" 𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐉𝐫.

Ngayong araw, Agosto 21, ating ginugunita ang ika-43 anibersaryo ng pagkamatay ng dating Senador ng Pilipinas na si Benigno S. Aquino, Jr. Isa siya sa pinakamahusay na mamamahayag at lider na may matibay na paninindigan na ipaglaban ang karapatan at kalayaan ng bawat Pilipino.

Bago pa man naging simbolo ng oposisyon, si Ninoy ay naging tanyag na war correspondent sa Korea sa edad na 17, kung saan iginawad sa kanya ang Philippine Legion of Honor. Kilala rin siya bilang pinakadavilang alkalde, bise-gobernadoryo, at gobernador ng Tarlac, pati na rin ang pinakabatang nahalal na senador sa kasaysayan ng bansa.

Sa kanyang panunungkulan sa Senado (1967–1972), walang katakot-takot niyang nilabanan ang korapsyon sa pamahalaan. Nilantad niya ang mga hindi makatarungang pang-aabuso sa pamamagitan ng pagkwestyon sa labis na budget para sa mga mararangyang proyekto, pagiging matalas na kritiko laban sa paglabag sa karapatang pantao, at ang hayagang pagtuligsa sa matinding pagbulsa sa kaban ng bayan.

Dahil sa kanyang pagboses laban sa maling sistema, si Ninoy ay dinakip at ikinulong nang pitong taon. Ngunit hindi sa piitan nagtapos ang kanyang katapangan. Sa kabila ng mahigpit na pagbabantay at solitary confinement, nagawa niyang maipuslit ang mga liham at bukas na pahayag upang ipadala sa internasyonal na media. Sa paraang ito, patuloy niyang inihayag sa buong mundo ang mapanupil at hindi makatarungang pamamalakad noon.

Noong 1983, matapos ang kanyang pansamantalang pananatili sa Estados Unidos para magpagamot, pinili niyang tapusin ang kanyang pagpapatapon (exile). Bumalik siya sa Pilipinas upang itaguyod ang mga repormang demokratiko sa mapayapang paraan—kahit batid niyang nasa matinding panganib ang kanyang buhay.

Siya ay binaril at pinaslang sa tarmac ng Manila International Airport (MIA) o mas kilala ngayon na Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1, noong Agosto 21, 1983. Ang karumal-dumal na krimeng ito ang gumising sa natutulog na diwa ng mga Pilipino. Nagpasiklab ito ng malawakang protesta sa buong kapuluan na direktang humantong sa makasaysayang 1986 People Power Revolution na nagbalik ng buong demokrasya sa bansa.

Kaya naman sa araw na ito, marapat lamang na ating alalahanin at ipagmalaki ang kanyang naging dakilang kontribusyon sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas. Ang kanyang buhay ay patunay sa kanyang walang-kamatayang linya:
