Greetings, Iskolars! We've seen and heard each of your feedback towards the Student Council and would like to take this opportunity to clarify those concerns and misinformations.
This statement is not meant to attack nor harm any individual. This statement was made with the intention to shed light on certain issues circulating towards the organization.
First and foremost, We, the Student Council Executives and Consultative Officers acknowledges our shortcomings all throughout our term. We do not offer any excuses to every lapses that you've experienced and felt, since the beginning and up until the very end of our term, our intention has always been to serve you and sadly, it seems that we fell short, and for thatโ we offer our sincerest apology.
To introduce the first point, on April 6, 2026, Iskolarium published a post implying that our organization uses AI-generated captions. We believe this statement was made without proper verification in our end. The individuals behind the creation of our captions ever since the resignation of our former Publication Manager, are more than capable of producing quality content through their own skills and creativity.
It is important to note that our former Publication Manager, who was originally elected to the position, officially resigned on March 23, 2026, his resignation was duly approved by the Council. Since then, caption writing responsibilities have been handled by different members of the Executive and Consultative body.
On June 4, 2026, Iskolarium released a post containing several concerns regarding the Student Council that we would like to address.
- PSICOM Invitation
A claim suggesting that the Student Council was not responsible for inviting PSICOM was false. We would like to clarify that the Student Council was indeed the organization that extended the invitation to PSICOM.
- Foundation Week and Intramurals Management
The Student Council would like to clarify that we are NOT the head organizer of the Foundation Week as well as Intramurals. Just like other organizations, we were only one of the participating committees in the said event. Therefore, decisions made and executed regarding the Foundation Week and Intramurals were BEYOND our sole authority.
- Food and Personnel During Events
Before the intramurals began, coordination meeting with the organizational presidents were held and an agreement regarding the participation of UI players was made. The agreement is basically participation in exchange of their assistance during the whole course of the intramurals.
However, the said agreement was not upheld properly and personnel shortage was experienced. This left us seeking for assistance from other volunteers to keep the activities smoothly.
Furthermore, the P50 contribution collected from each players are allocated for event-related expenses such as materials and equipments used during the event, as well as meals for the committee members and referee.
A transparency report will be posted once the receipts and tally are finalized by our Auditor and Finance Officer.
- Foundation Games Supervision
Basketball and Mobile Legends were under the supervision of our Vice President for External Affairs. He personally stated that he would oversee the said activities with the assistance of UI participants, and that would be enough.
With that, other Student Council members were also assigned to supervise various sports events. It is important to remember that Student Council members, like all students, balance academic responsibilities and personal obligations alongside their organizational duties.
- Foundation Week Posters and AI Allegations
The Student Council was NOT responsible for creating the official Foundation Week posters and promotional materials was NOT under our supervision. Furthermore, we wish to reiterate that the Student Council does not use AI-generated content for its creative outputs.
Lastly, to our former Publication Manager, Mr. Goli Cruz. We would like to acknowlege your contributions during your tenure as the Council's Publication Manager, however, a definite timeline is set in terms of posting and the delay in response and submission is the greatest setback in any organization's publication. This led the Council to make certain decisions such as a certain Executive Officer taking the job to avoid setbacks.
We also wish like to clarify that your work was never not appreciated and that feedbacks made regarding your work was never meant to undermine your capability in writing, instead, it is intended to improve the impact and quality of the organization's publication.
To reiterate, the Student Council wishes to clarify that your contributions during your tenure as the Publication Manager holds significant value, and for that, we are truly grateful.
We would also like to thank Iskolarium for their as it allows us to see the unfiltered thoughts of our fellow Iskolars whom we ought to serve.
To reiterate, this statement is written with the intention to acknowledge and address the concerns and misinformations circulating the organization, not to place the blame in any individual.
Moving forward, we encourage everyone to engage in a healthy, respectful and factual discussion. We are more then open to hear your thoughts and opinions as we remain committed to transparency and respectful discussions grounded in facts.
