The Social Work Department of the International School of Asia and the Pacific โ€“ Kalinga Campus successfully held a seminar on โ€œCurrent Trends and Issues in Social Work Practiceโ€with the theme โ€œBuilding Bridges to Knowledge: Exploring New Skills and Learning in Social Work Practice.โ€

Today, we had the distinct privilege of diving deep into the intricate world of Social Work Law and Ethics, guided by the expertise of Sir Jay France D. Taclawan, RSW, MSSW. As practitioners and students in a field that sits at the intersection of human rights and legal mandates, understanding the "why" behind our protocols is just as vital as the "how" of our interventions.
The seminar didn't just cover the dry letter of the law; it challenged us to examine the "gray areas" where professional boundaries, cultural nuances, and statutory requirements collide.

Social work is often described as a work of the heart, but as Sir Jay reminded us, it must also be a work of the mind. Knowledge of the law ensures that our passion is backed by protectionโ€”both for the practitioner and the service user.
