The theme for this year's National Intellectual Property Month supports the United Nations' (UN) call to action for the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development through the World Intellectual Property Organization theme of: “IP and the SDGs: Building our common future with innovation and creativity."

To symbolize the whole-of-society approach needed to fulfill the SDGs, IPOPHL created a minimalistic design with the concept of gears relating to how IP is essential to the "movement" or progress to meet the SDGs. The gears represent movement, synergy, and a sense of dynamism, even as it links to the symbol of SDGs, which is a circle.

Likewise, the icons that are featured with the gears are industries and institutions that we support and work with, our stakeholders, as we aspire for a brighter future for everyone.
