This week, our dear 4th year Fashion Design students showcased their respective Thesis collection. Their well-thought-of designs didn’t just wow the audience, but it also became an opportunity for them to see and understand fashion beyond just pretty clothes.

Our blue-sky-thinker, Erica Mae Japos, surprised us with her collection “Cosmica”. She took us by surprise with her clever experimental integration of Resin and scrap fabrics (Retaso) to create water-resistant outerwear pieces. Her designs showed off function, craftsmanship, and a youthful play of colors. It’s a brain teaser, and a bold move!

Catherine Niña Cuervo’s collection “𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘮𝘢” epitomizes patriotism by keeping the Filipino style identity alive with the statement details in every design that made us want to take one home. Who would’ve thought that a traditional Filipino costume-detail can be integrated into a daily wear, let alone a Filipino-made fabric.

The fashion film, PAGMAYA which means rejoice in Cebuano, proudly celebrates the Fine Arts Alumni works; the SAFAD building where future designers can hone their skills and jumpstart their journey as creative individuals, and most importantly the collaboration between two creative disciplines, the fashion design and cinema specializations.
