Last June 8, 2026, the NEMSU College of Law conducted a school campaign at Agusan del Sur State University, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur, as part of its continuing commitment to legal education, awareness, and community engagement.

More than just an information drive, the activity showcased the College’s commitment to promoting accessible and quality legal education, highlighting the opportunities that await aspiring legal professionals at NEMSU.

To make the experience more memorable and impactful, the team also organized fun games, bringing excitement and fostering camaraderie among participants while creating greater awareness about the College of Law.

The activity was initiated and carried out by NEMSU law students, namely: Jolina Patidungan, Clint Edjay Luminarias, Jacklyn Mae Pascua, Jepsy Bernadette Babia, Giefrus Andrew Bandoy, Carlos Andrei Diaz Ng, Robie Lagura, and Charish Mae Mariane Cygie Delos Arcos, under the leadership of Atty. Jodelle Chris G. Cuanan, Law Student Council Adviser, whose guidance and support helped make the initiative both meaningful and successful.

Through initiatives like these, the NEMSU College of Law remains steadfast in its mission of shaping future legal professionals and bringing quality legal education closer to communities.

NEMSU Law Students Complete Externship at Tandag Prosecutor’s Office

Tandag City, May 4, 2026 - Students from North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) College of Law successfully completed their externship program at the Tandag City Prosecutor’s Office under the mentorship of Prosecutor Benjamin P. Uy.

The program concluded with an exit conference led by Dean Atty. Daniel L. Diaz, marking the students’ hands-on experience in public prosecution and real-world legal practice.

During the conference, Prosecutor Uy commended the externs for the quality of their outputs, emphasizing that they should be grateful to the College of Law for providing them with a valuable edge in understanding the realities of lawyering in the field.

Dean Diaz, in turn, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Prosecutor’s Office for accommodating the students and supporting their practical training. He also conveyed the College’s intent to strengthen its partnership with the office, looking forward to more collaborative opportunities that will benefit both the institution and its future lawyers.

On April 25, 2026, a meaningful and informative Community Legal and Health Orientation on the Prohibition of Dog-Eating Practices was successfully conducted at the Barangay Patong Gymnasium, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur.

This initiative was led by the dedicated NEMSU Law Students enrolled in the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP 1) under the guidance of Atty. Daniel L. Diaz, Dean of NEMSU College of Law. The activity aimed to raise awareness on both the legal consequences and public health risks associated with dog-eating practices, while promoting compassion, responsible pet ownership, and community compliance with the law.

The health aspect of the orientation was discussed by Dr. Kharyl R. Garcia, Faculty of the NEMSU College of Medicine, highlighting the serious public health implications and reinforcing the importance of protecting both human and animal welfare.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all speakers, local officials, and community members who actively participated and supported this advocacy. Together, we move towards a more humane, informed, and law-abiding community. ⚖️💜

The NEMSU Law Students, taking up International Covenants on Environmental Justice, Commercial Laws 1, and Rules of Procedure for Environmental Cases, conducted a meaningful Coastal Clean-Up Activity at Bretania, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, with the guidance of Atty. Jodelle Chris Cuanan, Student Council Adviser.

This initiative is a reminder that the law is not only studied in classrooms but it is lived through actions that protect and preserve our environment for future generations.

Our sincere appreciation to the Municipality of San Agustin, headed by the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Nicolas O. Alameda, for the warm welcome and unwavering support in making this activity a success.
