We are pleased to introduce Dr. Rowena G. Fernandez, a distinguished faculty member of Palawan State University and an advocate for mental health, psychology, research, and community engagement.

Dr. Fernandez has dedicated her career to advancing psychological well-being through teaching, research, and community extension. She has led innovative psychosocial initiatives, including the Pre-Release Psychological Intervention Program (PRPIP) for Persons Deprived of Liberty at the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, demonstrating her commitment to promoting mental health and supporting vulnerable communities.

Her research interests include mental health, environmental psychology, and community development, with a focus on translating evidence-based research into meaningful programs that improve individual and community well-being. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to community service and human rights advocacy, she was honored with the GAWAD BANTAY KARAPATAN in 2024.

We are honored to introduce Dr. Jeremiah Butch T. Gemarino, MD, a distinguished Cardiologist and Critical Care Medicine specialist with extensive expertise in clinical practice, medical education, research, and healthcare leadership.

Dr. Gemarino earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from West Visayas State University College of Medicine, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Iloilo Mission Hospital, and pursued fellowship training in Adult Cardiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Philippine Heart Center. He also holds a Master of Business Administration in Health from the Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School of Business.

He currently serves as the Medical Director of Palawan Baptist Hospital, Visiting Consultant in Adult Cardiology at the Philippine Heart Center, and Associate Professor and Research Coordinator at the Palawan State University School of Medicine. A Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians, Philippine College of Cardiology, and Philippine Society of Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Gemarino continues to advance excellence in cardiovascular care, critical care medicine, research, and medical education.
