MARK YOUR CALENDARS: The fourth-year students of the University of Cagayan Valley-College Law will conduct another run of Legal Aid Caravan at Barangay, Gadu, Solana, Cagayan on 23 April 2023.

The activity shall cover lectures on the process of Transferring Land Titles in The Philippines pursuant to PD 1529 and a discussion on General Labor Standards.

A FREE legal consultation shall also be available with the assistance of Supervising Lawyers.

WHAT:
The University of Cagayan Valley College of Law students, in partnership with LGU Cabagan Isabela, invite the public to a one (1) day FREE legal aid program.

Fourth-year law students, accompanied by supervising lawyers, shall give lectures on Katarungang Pambarangay Law and Anti-Human Trafficking, and shall conduct FREE legal consultation.

WHEN:
April 23, 2023. Registration will start at 7:00 in the morning, and the program is expected to end at 12:00 noon.

WHERE:
Barangay Ngarag Court, Cabagan, Isabela.

Rationale:
This is in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the Legal Counseling and Social Responsibility subject which aims to provide the students with skills and knowledge in applying law, delivering legal services, and promoting social justice and public interest, especially for the marginalized.

UCV College of Law Legal Aid Caravan at Lasam, Cagayan

The University of Cagayan Valley – College of Law, through the initiative of the Second Year Juris Doctor Students were in partnership with Legal Services Center (LSC) / Legal Clinic and with the help of the other government offices namely MDRRMO, MAO, PNP, DA, MENRO AND Members of the Masonic District R-II Cagayan, conducted a Legal Aid Caravan last December 29, 2022 at Lasam, Cagayan.

The topics discussed in the morning activity were Environmental Laws ( PD705) and Basic Rescue Operations (First Aid and basic CPR) which was attended by residents of barangay Minanga Sur, Lasam, Cagayan and free legal consultation.

In the afternoon, the topics discussed were Local Legislation, Katarungang Pambarangay Law, and Government Procurement Law attended by barangay officials of the different barangays of the municipality of Lasam.

After the discussion on the topics mentioned above, an open forum and a continuation of the legal consultations were conducted to address the attendees' legal concerns. The caravan was under the direct supervision of Atty. Ramses Peralta, Atty. Reynold Anthony Mark Rodriguez, and Atty. Mark Maquiraya.

The UCV College of Law would like to extend our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the supervising lawyers for sharing their time and expertise with the guests and for guiding the group as well and the LGU of Lasam, Cagayan with the presence of the municipal mayor Engr. Dante Dexter A. Agatep for collaborating with us in providing access to legal services to the community.

The UCV College of Law LSC looks forward to conducting more Legal Aid Caravans to serve the communities in collaboration with the different agencies and organizations.

On OCT 28, 2022, a Legal Aid Caravan hosted by law student practitioners of University of Cagayan Valley College of Law was held at Centro Northwest, Solana, Cagayan.

The topics discussed were Worker's Minimum Benefits including Single Entry Approach (SENA), Unlawful Detainer and Forcible Entry, Alternative Channels, and Lessee and Lessor’s Common Disputes and Remedies.

The legal consultation commenced before the lecture started, and it was momentarily paused during the lecture session. After the UCV law student practitioners’ discussion on the topics mentioned above, an open forum and a continuation of the legal consultations were conducted to address the attendees' legal questions and specific concerns. The caravan was under the direct supervision of Atty. Alainah Chua and Atty. Marieflor Battung.

The UCV College of Law would like to extend our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the supervising lawyers for sharing their time and expertise with the guests and for guiding the group as well; Atty. Linette Chua, who helped and support the team prior to the event, and the LGU of Solana for collaborating with us in providing access to legal services to the community.

UCV College of Law Legal Caravan at Cagayan Provincial Jail

The University of Cagayan Valley-College of Law, through its Legal Services Center/Legal Clinic, conducted a Legal Caravan at the Cagayan Provincial Jail in Carig, Tuguegarao City on December 8, 2022.

The UCV Law Student Practitioners discussed salient points on Penalties, Bailable and Non-bailable Offenses and a guide to principal penalties under the Revised Penal Code, and other relevant laws to the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the above-mentioned facility.

The said activity was attended by Supervising Lawyers: Attys. Kim S. Ziganay, Alainah P. Chua, and Janelle Natividad.

The UCV Law Practitioners and supervising lawyers also entertained questions and concerns from the detainees and gave legal advice to aid them for their cause in their current cases.

Provincial Jail Warden JCINSP Catalino Arugay expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the UCV College of Law for the activity conducted and hoped for future partnerships for the betterment of the detainees.

The University of Cagayan Valley-College of Law, through its Legal Services Center/Legal Clinic, conducted a Legal Caravan at the Tuguegarao City Jail in Barangay Cataggaman Nuevo on November 6, 2022.

The said activity was attended by Supervising Lawyers: Attys. Kim S. Ziganay, Alainah P. Chua, Ma. Cecille Alexandra B. Taguiam and Bryan Niño D. Soriano, to discuss salient points on Probation Law, the Comprehensive Drugs Act, and other relevant laws to the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the above-mentioned facility.

The UCV Law Practitioners also entertained questions and concerns from the detainees and gave legal advice to aid them for their cause in their current cases.

City Jail Warden JCINSP Mark Anthony S. Saquing expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the UCV College of Law for the activity conducted and hoped for future partnerships for the betterment of the detainees.

The University of Cagayan Valley – College of Law Legal Services Center (LSC) recently conducted a Legal Aid Caravan held on November 16, 2022 at Alibago, Enrile, Cagayan under the supervision of Atty. Divine Grace P. Berbano.

The activity included free legal consultation and lectures about Land Registration Act, Data Privacy Act, Safe Spaces Act, and Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children(Anti VAWC) Act.

Special thanks to Honorable Miguel B. Decena Jr. , Municipal Mayor of Enrile, Cagayan, Hon. Paz T. Velasco, Barangay Captain of Alibago, LGU employees and staff, Alibago barangay officials and health workers. Many thanks to supervising lawyer, Atty. Divine Grace P. Berbano for sharing her legal knowledge to the community.

UCV LEGAL SERVICES CENTER GOES TO EASTERN ENRILE FOR LEGAL AID CARAVAN

On its second round of legal caravan, the Legal Services Center of the University of Cagayan Valley will conduct its Legal Aid Caravan at the Eastern barangays of the Municipality of Enrile, Cagayan on November 16, 2022, in partnership with its Municipal Local Government.

Land Registration Act, Anti-violence against Women and their Children Act, Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law and Data Privacy Act will be among the topics to be discussed. Legal consultations as well as drafting of legal forms will also be conducted by the law student practitioners with the supervision of Atty. Divine Grace Berbano.

Barangay Officials, the women, the youth, and members of marginalized groups are all invited in the said legal caravan.
