CSU LEGAL AID CENTER RECEIVES 2022 CLEP SOLIDARITY AWARD

The Cagayan State University Legal Aid Center has been named the 1st recipient of 2022 CLEP Solidarity Award in the country during the First Philippine Clinical Legal Education Summit at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City on December 2, 2022 with the theme "CLEP at the Frontline: Paving the Way Forward for Greater Access to Justice through Clinical Legal Education".

The award received recognizes the CSU Legal Aid Center's inspiring dedication in the implementation of Clinical Legal Education Program to ensure access to justice for the marginalized sectors in the midst of adversities and challenges. Also, this award is a form of affirmative action in the spirit of social justice and reserved to small Legal Education Instution like CSU who have nonetheless stayed true to its CLEP commitment.

The summit was attended by Atty. Richard Suyu, CLEP Adviser and Mr. Carl Ryan Simangan, CLEP President.

The 1st CLEP Awards was organized by the Legal Education Board in partnership with the Supreme Court Oversight Committee on the Implementation of Rule 138-A or the Revised Law on Student Practice, Association of Law Schools and Association of Law Students of the Philippines for the purpose of recognizing the outstanding works done by Legal Education Institutions, law schools clinics and student law practitioners towards the institutionalization of the CLEP and making justice more accessible to their respective communities.

The Summit is the culmination of the five-year Legal Aid Project (Strengthening Rule of Law through Legal Aid Clinics in the Philippines), which provided key stakeholder support for the creation of law clinics across the country and for the revision and implementation of the Revised Law Student Practice Rule.

Tomorrow will be the last day of 2022 November Bar Examinations. The logistical and financial circumstances this year were uniquely challenging. Nevertheless, we've successfully overcome those challenges and supported our 2022 CSULaw Bar Examinees with our earnest, concerted efforts. This wouldn't be possible without the people who have unconditionally helped and cooperated with the Bar Operations Committee in giving assistance and support to our Examinees.

On behalf of CSU College of Law and the 2022 Bar Operations Committee,
I would like to express our utmost gratitude to our University President Urdujah G. Alvarado, together with the whole CSU Administration, Dean Placido Sabban, our dear professors, our alumni lawyers, those who participated in our fundraising activities, our benefactors and to all of those who have helped and gave their support to our Bar Examinees. You were the best support system we could ever hoped for.

We take pride that you have become an integral part of this endeavor and in turn, the success of each of our Bar Examinees. Lastly, we are eternally grateful to God for his constant guidance and everlasting love. Everything we do will all be for the greater glory of God. We standby and pray that all our Bar Examinees will receive the triumph they have longed and worked very hard for.
