Soaring once again with excellence and purpose, the Red Eagles of Cagayan State University Carig Campus have proven that Carig brilliance is not just recognize but it leads.

Held today at Cagayan State University Andrews Campus (onsite and via Zoom), multiple student researchers proudly secured 1st Place Finishes across different categories, showcasing innovation, relevance, and impact in their respective fields.

In the Technological Category, Ghanymede M. Dela Cruz, Dustin Drix Narciso, and Carl Angelo Victoria emerged as champions with their study, “PAWSENSE: An AI-Enabled Mobile App using YOLO for Pet Skin Disease and Care Guidance,” under the guidance of Mr. Fernando Jaminola from the College of Information and Computing Sciences, who was also recognized as Best Mentor. Their research highlights the power of artificial intelligence in improving pet healthcare and early disease detection.

In the Social Category, Revin Joy A. Furigay, Reymalyn B. Mateo, Mark Angelo S. Reolalas, Glendale A. Serrano, and Michael B. Soriano claimed the top spot with their study, “Production Costs, Rice Price Fluctuations, and Income Level of Smallholder Irrigated Rice Farmers from 2019–2024 in Solana, Cagayan.” Guided by Prof. Jezreel M. Pattaguan from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, their work sheds light on pressing agricultural and economic challenges faced by local farmers.

Meanwhile, in the Experimental Research Category, Ann Joe D. Cabalza, Rowelyn D. Fermin, Melvin Jay A. Malenab, and Larianne Angel C. Sarmiento secured 1st Place with their study, “In Vitro Bioactivity Evaluation of 3D-Printed PLA/HAp Scaffolds Derived From Eggshell Waste.” With the mentorship of Dr. Mary Jane C. Calagui from the College of Engineering and Architecture, their research demonstrates the potential of sustainable materials in advancing biomedical applications.

These achievements reflect the true spirit of a being a CSUans, innovative, resilient, and committed to creating meaningful change. With every milestone, the legacy of excellence continues to rise.

CICS Rep Pioneers Web-Based Student Council Election Management System

With the initiative of bridging technology and this year’s Campus Student Council Elections, 4th-year BS in Computer Science student Ghanymede Dela Cruz developed the first-ever Campus Election Management System — a digital platform designed for the conduct of this year’s campus elections.

In a historic first for Cagayan State University Carig Campus, the system introduced an online voting platform paired with secured and encrypted ballots. This personal initiative eased the work of the Campus and College Electoral Board in verifying vote counts.

As the CICS Representative in the CCSC and currently a member of the Campus Electoral Board, Dela Cruz’s initiative is rooted in his commitment to making processes more efficient for students and the CEB. The Carig Campus Student Council appreciates and commends talents and initiatives like yours, Rep.

OFFICIAL RESULTS | The final results of the Carig Campus Student Council Elections for Academic Year 2026–2027 are hereby released.

The Campus Electoral Board proudly presents the newly elected student leaders who have earned the trust and mandate of the Carig Campus student body. These results reflect the collective voice and democratic choice of the students.

JUST IN I Campus electoral board releases partial and unofficial tally
As of 5:25 pm, the current voter turn-out has reached 50.7% with more than an hour remaining in the voting polls.

Desiree Cureg continuously leads the Presidential race with 1721 votes.
The Campus Electoral Board (CEB) has clarified that while these numbers are updated, the votes for the Representatives are still unfiltered and subject to final validation.
