Seminar on Research Design for Scientific Publication
The Pangasinan State University โ School of Advanced Studies (PSU-SAS) successfully conducted the Seminar on Research Design for Scientific Publication on March 7, 2026 at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR), PSU-SAS, Urdaneta City. The whole-day activity gathered graduate students currently working on their thesis, capstone projects, and dissertations to strengthen their competence in research design and scientific writing.
The program opened with the welcome remarks of Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, Acting Executive Director, who emphasized the importance of strengthening the research capability of graduate students, followed by the statement of purpose delivered by Dr. Presley V. de Vera, Research Coordinator, highlighting the seminarโs role in enhancing methodological rigor and preparing graduate research for scientific publication.
The seminar proper began with a short orientation by Dr. Rhowell M. Dellosa, Director for Research Development of PSU, who discussed institutional policies on research publication and co-authorship aligned with CHED Memorandum Order No. 15, s. 2019, emphasizing responsible collaboration and research dissemination.
The morning sessions were led by Mr. Renz Venielle L. Lamayo and Dr. Charita Arcangel Delos Reyes of the University of the Philippines Baguio, who discussed the foundations of quantitative and qualitative research design, highlighting the importance of aligning research questions, methods, and analysis to ensure methodological rigor. In the afternoon, Dr. Richel L. Lamadrid, Director of the Research, Innovation and Sustainable Extension (RISE) Center of Saint Louis University Baguio, shared practical strategies in scientific writing for publication, focusing on the structure, clarity, and ethical standards necessary for preparing publishable research manuscripts.
The activity concluded with a general meeting for the upcoming public defense of graduate students, facilitated by Dr. Edelyn P. Arabe, Chair of the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Studies and the Master of Arts in Education major in Social Studies programs. This was followed by the closing message of Dr. Christian Thom F. Tabisola, Dean of the Management and Public Administration, who encouraged participants to continue strengthening their research capability and active engagement in scholarly work. Through this seminar, PSU-SAS reaffirms its commitment to advancing research excellence and fostering a strong culture of scholarly publication among its graduate students.
