Issued at 5:00 AM, 18 October 2026 by DOST-PAGASA

Super Typhoon CHAMPI has intensified outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h and gusts up to 230 km/h.

Location: 2,230 km East of Southeastern Luzon

Movement: West-northwestward at 25 km/h

PAR Entry: Expected Tuesday (20 Oct) morning/afternoon (Domestic Name: ROSAL)

Potential Impacts & Timeline:

Wind Signals: Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 or 4 may be hoisted over Northern & Eastern Luzon and parts of Bicol as early as Monday night / Tuesday morning.
Heavy Rainfall: Heavy rains expected over Extreme Northern Luzon.
Sea Conditions: Moderate to rough seas over eastern/northern seaboards starting Tuesday, becoming hazardous by Wednesday.

PAGASA Update: 5:00 AM, September 25, 2026
Tropical Storm Queenie continues to maintain its strength over the Philippine Sea and is currently estimated at 1,065 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon. The storm is moving northwestward at 20 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h, below 2.0 meters over the next 24 hours.
Queenie is expected to move west-northwest today before shifting northwest tomorrow morning, September 26. It will then slow down and curve northeastward, exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Sunday afternoon (September 27) and early Monday morning (September 28). The storm is projected to steadily intensify while inside PAR and may reach typhoon strength by Sunday before accelerating northeastward out of the region.
Although direct land impact is not expected, track shifts and peripheral weather remain possible. The public and local risk management offices are advised to monitor official PAGASA updates and adhere to safety instructions from local authorities.
