𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒: 𝐂𝐒𝐀𝐕 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐲 2026! 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐀𝐘 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐍𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐒 𝐎𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐋 | 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 24, 2026

With gears turning and bright minds ready to compete, the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas (TUP-V) Gymnasium came alive as aspiring engineers gathered for Mechanical Engineering Day 2026, held in celebration of Mechanical Engineering Week.

Organized by the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME), Negros Occidental Chapter, the event brought together students from Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias (CSAV), Technological University of the Philippines Visayas (TUP-V), University of Negros Occidental Recoletos (UNO-R), STI West Negros University (STI-WNU), and Southland College for a day of learning, competition, and celebration of engineering excellence.

Among the competing schools, CSAV made its mark by securing second place in both the AutoCAD and Machine Design competitions, while TUP-V swept the competition by claiming championship titles in all three events.

The celebration officially began at 8:00 a.m. with the entrance of participating schools, followed by the National Anthem, PSME Prayer, Creed, and Core Values. The opening program featured messages from Engr. Diego G. Aguado, Jr., Engr. Noel V. Avelino, PME, and Dr. Patrick John G. Delumpa, while Engr. Ronnie D. Maligmat, PSME National Vice-President for Visayas, delivered an address to the participants.

Students also gained valuable insights from Engr. Ace Zander C. Antonio, who discussed the future of mechanical engineering in the era of Industry 4.0, and Engr. Rene V. Bolo, who introduced career opportunities beyond traditional engineering. Both sessions encouraged students to explore new possibilities and prepare for the changing demands of their future profession.

As the afternoon competitions began, excitement grew as participants put their knowledge, creativity, and technical skills to the test. In the AutoCAD Competition, Miguel C. Sanco and Vynz Jalandra brought pride to CSAV after securing second place, showcasing their skills in computer-aided design and technical drawing.

The winning momentum continued in the Machine Design Competition, where John Paul Buenafe, Regie Pelayo, Kevin Rosales Uypico, John Paul L. Santillan, and Gerrose D. Cabahug, under the guidance of Engr. Jay Mae Alanza, earned another second-place finish for CSAV.

Meanwhile, Clark A. Rome, Shena Jean D. Casido, and Steven S. Dobrea, guided by Engr. Edmar Genete, represented CSAV in the Quiz Bee, demonstrating their knowledge, teamwork, and determination despite not securing a podium finish. TUP-V, on the other hand, proved its competitive strength by emerging as champion in the AutoCAD, Machine Design, and Quiz Bee competitions.

Adding significance to the celebration was the Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony of Junior Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (JPSME) Officers for School Year 2026–2027, where CSAV's newly elected student leaders joined officers from other participating institutions in formally accepting their responsibilities.

The ceremony, administered by Engr. Noel V. Avelino, PME, welcomed CSAV JPSME President Gerrose D. Cabahug, Executive Vice President Clark A. Rome, Internal Vice President Laiza Mae B. Porras, Secretary Shena Jean D. Casido, Treasurer Miguel C. Sanco, Assistant Treasurer Pamela A. Nardo, Auditor Shelou Marie M. Cañete, Business Manager Jenny Bev V. Palma, and Public Information Officer Jirhomy N. Ramirez.

Joining them were Sports Coordinators Alain V. Alvarado, James Simon D. Difuz, and Maeryl R. Villamor, along with First Year Representative Edzel John S. Suyo, Second Year Representative Vynz Jalandra, Third Year Representative Steven S. Dobrea, and Fourth Year Representative Hezekiah Jaylawrd E. Soledad. Their induction marked the beginning of another year of service, leadership, and commitment to the mechanical engineering community.

The celebration became even more lively with intermission performances from STI-WNU, Southland College, UNO-R, TUP-V, and CSAV, bringing entertainment and school spirit to the gathering. The event continued with the awarding of prizes to the competition winners and concluded with closing remarks from Engr. Dennis G. Quivis.

For Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias, Mechanical Engineering Day 2026 was more than an opportunity to compete. It was a chance to showcase the abilities of its students, strengthen connections with fellow aspiring engineers, and celebrate the beginning of a new chapter of JPSME leadership.

Headed by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗸𝗶-𝗹𝘆𝗻𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗼, the 𝘗𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘺𝘢𝘸 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘳, everyone is surely equipped to make this publication year more informative and engaging!

From the staff members under the 𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙, who look at every detail precisely, no “𝙛𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙨” can ever escape their sight! Just be careful when talking to them because they will definitely correct even the simplest mistake, from the “𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭” vs. “𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭” compliment to the usage of “𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦” vs. “𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳.” But worry no more because they still have that “humor” like everyone else! Humor? Check! ✅ Will chat you even in the middle of the night just to remind you of the deadline? Double check! ✅✅

Now, let’s go down to the 𝙬𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨! They are the ones with spying eyes, always looking to take down the important details of every event. Observers, you say? Definitely! If you ever catch their gaze, that’s just them in their “𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘳” state. Nothing more, promise! Ask them to describe how ethereal you are, and they can definitely write a whole essay about you. But here’s a tip: avoid arguing with them because they can easily remember past events, even those that happened in B.C.E. (wkwkwkw maliiii!) Do you also know? “𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳” will never sound offensive to them because they literally make stories—for literary purposes only, of course! So, observers? Check! ✅ A human calendar? Double check! ✅✅

From writers, let’s now move to the 𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨! They use their talented hands to express stories and events. Ask them to enhance your raw work, and watch them do so like they are Canva Premium users. 🤓 They never run out of creative juices! Every dull moment has no space for them because they turn every element into a colorful one! Creativity overload? Check! ✅ Turning a simple layout into a masterpiece? Double check! ✅✅

Of course, we have our skillful 𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙟𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨! Their camera lenses serve as their sixth sense because they never miss a chance to capture every special moment! They are among the busiest people at every school event, roaming around just to get the perfect angle for their shots. Tall, dark, and handsome? Could be. But tall, dark, and may pitik? For sure! They hold their cameras dearly, as if their lives depend on it. So, don’t worry about them being careless with anything because if they can take good care of their cameras, what more if it’s something more valuable than it? 😉 Pitik in every direction? Check! ✅ Catching your best angle even before you know you're being photographed? Double check! ✅✅

𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐑𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐨𝐧

𝘈 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘣𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵.

Pink has long been woven into the language of girlhood and femininity. Sometimes, it's a ribbon tied in a little girl's hair, a favorite accessory, a color often associated with womanhood. Yet, some ribbons carry meanings far heavier than their appearance suggests. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻, 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿, 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆; 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲. 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide. 𝘐𝘯 2023 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 2.3 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 (Bhangdia et al., 2026). Behind this number are lives interrupted by diagnoses, families learning to navigate uncertainty, and individuals facing a journey no statistic can fully capture. These figures remind us that 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙖 𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙; 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨.

And while breast cancer is often perceived as a disease that affects women alone, 𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱 𝘪𝘵, 𝘵𝘰𝘰. Although male breast cancer is rare and occurs most frequently in older men, it can emerge at any age (Mayo Clinic, 2026). Awareness, therefore, must extend beyond assumptions and stereotypes.

𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴. It may belong to a mother, a sister, a daughter, a father, a brother, or a friend. It may tell of someone undergoing treatment, someone who has survived, someone standing beside a loved one, or someone whose memory continues to live in the hearts of those left behind. However, awareness must mean more than wearing pink or displaying a ribbon once a year. It calls for conversations that challenge misconceptions, education that encourages informed decisions, and access to appropriate health care. It means recognizing changes in one's body, seeking medical advice when something feels unusual, and understanding the importance of timely medical evaluation. Above all, it means creating spaces where people can speak about their concerns without fear, shame, or judgment.

This 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 , as we observe 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, let the pink ribbon serve as more than a seasonal reminder. October may bring the world together under a shared shade of pink, but the commitment to awareness must not fade when the month ends. Long after the ribbons are put away, the need for education, early detection, support, and compassion remains.

Have you ever felt like your mind has twenty different browser tabs open all at once, music playing in the background from a tab you can’t locate, and three urgent notifications popping up every second? For millions of people living with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), this isn't just an occasional bad day—it is their everyday reality. This National ADHD Awareness Week, we step away from the misconceptions and stereotypes. ADHD is so much more than just being easily distracted or hyperactive children who can't sit still. It is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that affects adults, teens, and children alike, shaping how they process the world, experience emotions, and navigate daily life.

In a world built for linear routines, strict schedules, and quiet focus, living with ADHD can often feel like playing a game where everyone else was given the rulebook except you. It is the quiet frustration of staring at a blank screen for hours, wanting so desperately to start a task, yet feeling completely paralyzed. It is the guilt of missing a deadline, forgetting a close friend’s birthday, or losing your keys for the third time this week—not because you don't care, but because your brain regulates attention differently. It is also the emotional toll of rejection sensitivity, where minor criticism feels like a crushing weight, leading many to mask their struggles just to fit in.

But ADHD is not a story of deficit alone—it is also a story of incredible brilliance. When an ADHD mind finds something it truly cares about, it doesn't just focus; it hyperfocuses. It creates masterpiece art, solves complex problems with unconventional logic, and generates boundless creative energy. People with ADHD are often the visionaries, the passionate dreamers, the quick thinkers in a crisis, and the most deeply empathetic companions you will ever meet.

If you are reading this and recognizing yourself in these words, you are not lazy, broken, or too much. Your brain is simply wired in a unique and vibrant way, and finding the right support—whether through therapy, coaching, medication, or simply self-compassion—can turn what feels like everyday chaos into your greatest strength. And for those who love, work with, or raise someone with ADHD, your patience, understanding, and open heart mean more than you know. This National ADHD Awareness Week, let’s build a world where we don’t just tolerate neurodiversity, but celebrate the rich, colorful perspectives it brings into our lives.

Accountancy is more than balancing debits and credits—it is also about critical thinking, accuracy, teamwork, and perseverance. These qualities took center stage on 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 16, 2026 , as the 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒄𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒔 - 𝑪𝑺𝑨𝑽 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒓 celebrated Accountancy Day, bringing together students from different year levels for a day of academic competitions, talent showcases, and fellowship.

The program opened with Axle Ann Menguito and Caroline Salvani, followed by a message from Mr. Alfonso L. Delgado, CPA. Mr. Mark Dela Cruz, CPA, introduced the newly elected JPIA-CSAV officers, while Chrizza Joy Rodriguez, JPIA President, led the federation year theme launching and Kirsten Zylen Adolfo presented the membership.

Adding energy to the celebration, Jorli Faith Lavadia and Yzza Angela Magbanua from BSA 1 delivered an intermission performance before the presentation of the implementation of the rules and regulations.

Despite the endless worksheets, challenging accounting problems, and tight deadlines, the celebration gave students an opportunity to unwind and connect with their fellow aspiring accountants, while fun games added excitement to the event. The program concluded with closing remarks from Aya Cantong, JPIA Secretary, sending a heartfelt appreciation to each and every BSA student.
